Malls are such a pop culture phenomenon of a bygone era known as the 80s and 90s. I lived it, and I was even at the grand opening of my own mall in my city, but sadly, it's now gone and replaced by an Amazon facility. Truth be known, so many malls are vanishing due to the lack of shoppers and resorting to on-line purchasing. How ironic that my own mall gets leveled and Amazon takes its place.

I grew up during the era of malls. They were a place for kids to hang out on the weekends, eat and chill at the food court, walk around and scope out the girls, and so many other things. It was also nice that u could shop, try something on and see if it fit proper or was the style u liked. You could just walk around and see all the displays the stores had and what they containesd. You could get some really good pretzles or a fresh squeezed lemonade. Your parents could drop u off there on a Saturday for a couple hours and they didn't have to worry because they knew weren't getting into mischief or trouble. It was a more innocent time. You even had the arcade where u could blow some of your quarters on and still have fun. You could really make a nice day out of just going to the mall. The list goes on as to all the things that made malls great.. Now everyone just buys things online. You're lucky if what u ordered fits right and if not u have to go through the whole through the mail return and emailed customer service. I have a lot of great memories from that era. Strangely though, i live about an hour from NYC and our mall is still packed almost all the time. I thought it'd be closed by this time but it's still alive and well. Sad that more and more are closing down each year though. Where are kids supposed to go now? On their cell phones i suppose. But, I'm glad we didn't have those in our pockets when I was a kid. R.I.P. to one of the most iconic malls ever. Aside from the original Dawn of the Dead mall i can't think of any more iconic.

I think I recently figured out an error in Back to the Future. Many of us know that the "Twin Pines" mall sign changed after Marty went back in time and destroyed one of the pines while driving off and in the altered present, it was now known as Lone Pine Mall. However, as Marty is playing back to young Doc his experiment video of old Doc, old Doc still says "I'm standing here at the Twin Pines...." given how Marty's analog photo of his siblings is changing in real time as everyone is fading from the photo as the situation has not been cemented yet, given the one pine tree is already gone, the old Doc should have now said "Lone Pine mall." in the video now.

@@kvon432k I will put that on my calandar, I live in Irvine now so pretty close. For Stand By Me, most of the railroad is a bike trail now (I have biked it). The famous bridge and the water tower are in NorCal in Shasta Trinity National Forest on a different line that's just abandoned. I visited the bridge but still haven't uploaded it because it was actually a bit of a coming of age story for me with the risk assesment of cliff jumping off that bridge as my first jump (fun fact on why they picked that bridge: the water is deep enough it's more likely you'll survive a fall. @@kvon432k It's about 25 meters I'd guess, definately more than 20 (a standard high dive is 3 meters for comparison. So 7 to 8 times taller than a high dive). I'm a huge fan of BTTF and also an auto enthusiast. I've had many fun cars, but I've got a Tesla now and it's so much better! There are quite a few DeLorean EV conversions out there. I think that's also quite awesome. If BTTF was made today, it would likely have been an electric car they used. It would have made it alot easier to refuel the car because Doc could have rigged something up, even in 1855 to charge the car. Rolling it down a steep hill would have been a start because of regen. While it is prime real estate, I don't think they would do housing development. Too close to the freeway and other commercial areas like the nearby Costco which has a lot of traffic running through and uses the road along the mall as short cuts. At most they might have the mall changed so it can still have stores and perhaps limited apartments or similar. Kinda what they had wanted to do before 2020. If they settle on housing. new owners will treat local large business like Costco, Frank & Sons and the AMC similar to how home owners treat nearby airports. As a problem for them. Gotta remember that even with the mall functionally dead, it has locations around and inside it still that provides a lot of traffic.
