Just the perfect scene: Tight blocking, no unnecessary camera movement, long takes, framing all the relevant information together, cutting to faces only when needed, excellent performances, sharp dialogue, no distractions - perfection! 👌 Take notes, current and future directors.

Fun things is that the script to portrait Biff was an awesome and light hearted dude. He even made a funny song about what people ask him about BTTF.
@mollieosinga66913 жыл бұрын
I never noticed Biff calling George an Irish bug. Glad that they kept the continuity of it by having Marty's ancestors be Irish. Some filmmakers or screenwriters forget little things like that and just use it as a small gag that they never intend to go back to.

It’s a reminder that there were ethnic prejudices in America other than the ones we think of today, such as against blacks or Asians or Hispanics or Jews. Irish people were looked down upon historically.

The part with the father and son and their hands holding their heads when they look back and Biff comes walking in demanding his homework. Michael J Fox was so young in this and he was in Family Ties and I was a huge fan of him in Family Ties and Back To The Future great movies back in the 80's.

George's evolution is just so brilliant. When he accepted being bullied he had no issues seeing Marty bullied, he didn't have the guts to openly pursue the girl he liked, and as an adult he took his wife and his family for granted, never fighting for one thing in his life. But all along he had been writing about scifi heroes who lived in the opposite way. Thanks to Marty he had a chance to decide again and become the real man he always admired and tame the evil in his life, represented by Biff.

Biff really messed with George when he asked if George didn't want him to get kicked out of school. Um, yes, get the bully out!! This was a brilliant scene. I have it memorized...kid of the 80's.

In the scene where Lorraine kisses Marty then recoils and says it felt like kissing her brother, you immediately notice how similar Michael J. Fox looks to Lea Thompson, even though, of course, the actors are not relatives.

There was something a bit off kilter about Crispín Glover’s performance in this movie that made the character of George McFly seem a lot weirder and more distinctive than a standard ‘80s movie nerd.
