little (long) explantions for those who are (just like me) confused about the original and the remake: - The monk is no longer an antagonist, being a benevolent figure who investigates the supernatural occurrences at the bathhouse, and is the one who rescues Maina and defeats the landlord in the true ending. -The Ubume is a malevolent and vengeful demon who haunts the bathhouse and antagonizes the player characters who have no connection to her. In the remake, she's Maina's late mother and her spirit watches over her daughter and protects her. -The landlord in the original is an accomplice of the priest whose main mission is to lure women into working in his bathhouse and offer them as a sacrifice for the Ubume. In the remake, the landlord kidnaps a pregnant woman named Yoko and locks her up in the basement where she's d*es of childbirth, becoming the Ubume. The landlord lures Maina into the bathhouse so he can offer her as a sacrifice. -Unlike in the original where Maina and Erena are sisters and separate characters, Erena is Maina's real name and she has a twin brother. The chained man in the basement from the original game is the son of the Ubume. Here, the Ubume's offspring are Maina/Erena and Toru. -Good All Along: Toru's face on the wanted poster. Turns out he's only in town to find his missing twin sister. -Long-Lost Relative: As revealed by the monk, Maina or Erena is Toru's twin sister. Toru is in town, trying to find her. Likewise with the Ubume who is the spirit of their late mother, Yoko. -Related in the Adaptation: The Ubume has no familial connection to Maina in the original. ngl for a restored version the game feels so different. Like the story is more understandable than in the original one (like in the original, i didnt understand the wanted revelance to the plot, as i didnt see anything hinting that he was our brother). I also didnt know that Yoko was our mom... so idk if they modified the story in general or they just made in more understandable.
