I'm watching this late, so I'm not sure if the bed will be completed yet, but I would put a bird bath, fountain or a tall colored pot left empty in place of the girl or gazing ball. I love the blue with the grass. Also the height and shape of the globe work. I wouldn't choose it because of the extra work it would make. Your intro is exactly what I’m thinking. Seeing it thru new eyes it probably looks great but I’m annoyed with mine because I removed the back drop which was actually wild shrubby weeds that looked good but were taking over so they were unceremoniously yanked out and now I hate my focal point lol 🤦🏼♀️ I’ve moved some around and it’s alright but to me it looks like I’m back to a new work in progress garden. Uggghhh 😅 I might mow it and just hope the roots survive 😅 (I think I’m almost serious)

Hi Michelle, what about if you put a boxwood hedge along mid-height of bed. Then you can create a tiered planting you view from patio on one side of hedge and then same thing on other side. So kind of 2 beds. ❤❤❤
@gardeningTLC2 ай бұрын
Hi Victoria, The side going up hill would have to be plants taller than the boxwood hedge will be...3 feet high.....that mean they all have to be 4 feet or more which would be too tall for what is planted in the bottom section of the wall....I actually tried something similar to that in a design a while ago and could not make it work.....I do like the way you think though. I think that slope is close to 30 degrees in a 20 foot run...
@victoria761162 ай бұрын
@@gardeningTLC Hi Michelle, I meant to say add your 3 FT hedge along the mid height and then taper smaller on either side. So from patio side you get a 3-4 tiered effect up to boxwood and then from lawn side you get the same 3-4 tiered effect from grass or border edge up to boxwood. So the boxwood is the tallest and divides into 2 beds. Don’t know if that makes sense. Wish I could attach my sketch 😂 ❤❤love your designs and your channel.

I love this design so much that I want to copy it. Can you tell me if the arbovitaes are deer resistant? My vote goes to the glass ball but I have a feeling you like the no maintenance of the little girl 😉
@gardeningTLC2 ай бұрын
That is a tricky question...some arborvitae are more resistant than others and deer adapt what they eat based on where they live. I have planted the linesville arbs before and not had them eaten. And yes, I do really like the blue ball alot..... but.....no maintenance has my name all over it

With all the hideous mosquitoes we have in WI I’m just plopping things because that’s all I can tolerate. I would LOVE to wear short sleeves and be cooler, but this year it full dress from head to toe with head net. Never had them like this, it’s awful. I’m done with yews as we had them at another house. They need trimmed, had a nip from hedge trimmers and I breakout from them. So yes, I’m not a fan either. And because of the invasive growth of the hostas that were here, I’m not a fan of them either. I like a wind spinners or tall statues for garden interest. Yes to begonias and impatiens! They are such a bright spot! I know we all like variety, but I see very few designs with mass plantings which can be breathtaking.
