Queen Japa- That’s Great! I’ve been using an Echo battery operated chainsaw for cleaning up logs before they go through the Japa 365. On the 365, the wedges extend all the way to walls.

Nice evaluation of the Japa 315, Dan. I have spoken with Bob and I totally agree that he is a man for the customer. I hope this product takes off for Metsa Machines. It has limitations but the solid engineering and framework is there. Bob said that a diesel and 3-phase electric version are coming so that's a big part of the complaints answered right there. Plus, I'm a little biased because Metsa is located in my home state of Wisconsin. Nuff said! Great video, Dan, thank you. Stay strong and be kind!

For efficiency in filling say 4x or 6x IBC cages... a Lazy Susan (rotating table) under the cages so that anyone can rotate out a filled cage for an empty one...by rotating the plate. The "rollers' underneath could be old space saver wheels on small axles to take the weight; the center pivot a truck wheel and axle with the frame of the plate being welded on steel angle iron

That idea has been rolling around in my head for years. I want it to be powered and on a trailer so I can move it around. If your using a conveyor it's not necessary but if your stacking totes I see it as helpful. Of course just slowing down is a good argument but that doesn't seem to enter into the equation.

Man what I'd do for one of those! Even just to have a splitter! I do my wood all by hand. Cut with the chainsaw, haul it by hand and split with a maul. I just can't afford a 2,000 dollar splitter. Hope someday I can get myself one of those processors!

10 years ago I started with a small chainsaw and an axe. Fast forward to today I now own a Cord King 18-20m and a John Deere 1025r tractor. Keep at it you will get there.

I think entry level cost is between 13-14k for the 315. I have this unit on demo so I didn't buy it, that's why don't know exact cost. I think that one of the "greatest" things with a Japa/Hakki/Palax (or any other brand) is that it opens up the possibility of making firewood to more people than "hardcore chainsaw-dudes" in the shape of their life 😉. It doesn't take anything away from anybody, but it can give something nice to anyone 🤗.

A slide rule and a protractor??? That is definitely bringing out the backwoods engineer. LOL The speed is adjustable on the conveyor. So you can control how far the firewood gets launched. I think you covered all the features and benefits of the machine. I think for most people, having a separate motor to power it would be preferable. That way you have your tractor available to move logs to the machine or take IBC totes away from it.

There is a speed control valve for the conveyor, available but it's not on this particular unit I have. So there's just one speed for the splits coming off it...lol 😀👍🍻

This thing was probably built to split forest grown Baltic birch wood fast, which is very straight grain. But it seems to do a pretty nice job with those grainy logs :)

I don't undedstand Japa not having the wedge fill the splitting width. If you see Joe's 365 Pro (OWB), his wedges fit into grooves on the side, and fill the space completely!

How about a plastic liner cut into a wedge or a pyramid? It would guide it into the bins. On plus you missed was way easier on the body.......

Yep I think any of the processors with stand alone power would be nice, unless you were taking something like this out into the forest to process logs on site, then you'd have the tractor hooked up to just move it around.

It is a wonderful machine but it takes planning and resources. I've watched you, GP and that tall CPA guy work the Japa and everyone loves it but it's not perfect. A chainsaw and a log splitter with a log lift goes a long way to good production.
