This practice is perfect for those who find backbends difficult. We will first start with some interesting movements for the back, lots of spinal waves and then we will proceed by opening our shoulders, strengthening our core and stretching our hip flexors. This will set a good and healthy basis for further backbends.
This practice will continue with a Camel pose, Bow and a preparation for the Wheel pose. You can repeat this practice as often as it feels good and necessary for your back.

This was a lovely flow - I have been having a lot of problems with stiffness in my back and was mostly doing cat/cow iterations. After going through this practice I feel so much better and am definitely going to be incorporating these movements into my routine! I follow you on IG and absolutely love your energy. So glad you're making full practices on youtube and I'm looking forward to more!

I love the way you slowly move towards the more deeply opening postures. That it is allowing the body time to adjust and feel somatically into the practice. I will be 60 next year and I've noticed how important it is to slow down and ease into a practice otherwise the postures feel dry, stiff and unsatisfying ❤

Backbends are one of my biggest fear in all the yoga positions (I don't know why). I think there aren't so many backbends tutorials on the web (and beginner friendly). So I was very happy to have the opportunity to work on them today, in a safe and pleasant way. I felt good after the practice. Thank you for this high-quality video tutorial !

I thought I wouldn't do good because I'm not used to practise away from home, yet with your voice guiding me through those wonderful backbends, it felt like I was home, like that's where I need to be, on my mat, doing something I have always been meant to do 💙 thank you Marina for always making me feel like my yoga mat is where I belong to and that my body is my only and prior "home sweet home" 🙏🏼✨ Challenge day 5 done

Day 5 of challenge! Feel Amazed about what my body can do after some practice. I managed to do a wheel pose at the end of the practice and keep it for some time! (I'm exciting because it's always been a hard pose for my back!) Thank you Marina, the sequences in this class are perfect to reach the final goal !

I think the wheel pose in the end is not for beginner😂 But it's challenging. After try it several times i can touch the floor. The active backbends felt good! Perfect flow Marina❤️ Love it!

I definitely need way more backbend practice! :-D I'm pretty sure that it doesn't look nearly as a wave what I'm doing with my back.. But I'm confident that it will get better by practicing with this and other videos from you, lovely Marina! Thank you for this strong home practice!

It doesn't really matter how your waves look - we focus on how the feel ! I myself always feel that my waves are super deep - but when I record them they seem just regular lol !!! I am fine with that. because they feel amazing !!! But backbends in general definitely get easier with practice !

Day 5:. 3/3 Backbends make me think that I can break my arms, but even though I find this beautiful and challenging, I love when I can hold my backbend even if it is 5 o 6 seconds 😅 and what i love more is that I can manage how to get out of this pose 😅🤭🤗 Marina, you are and excellent teacher 🥰🤍🌹

I am mostly avoiding the backbends because they are challenging my upper body in an uncomfortable way. Thanks for the video and letting me go outside my comfort zone :)

Oh you wrote it so beautifully !!!! I totally understand you. I used to dislike and avoid backbends. But nowadays I start with all kinds of spinal waves and fluid back movements - I do a lot of those - until finally I feel that my back is ready. Then hip openers an shoulder stretches - and ohhh I love backbends now !! Good luck with your practice !

A few months ago when I practiced for backbends, I couldn’t bend my back. I have practiced with this video a lot. And recently I’m able to slowly bend my back and get my hands closer to the mat. Thank you so much, Marina. You’re the right yoga teacher, motivator and inspiration that’s just best for me. Feels so good to see how my body has changed with these practices ❤️ Day 5 ✅

Day 5 pt 3 complete! Although I couldn’t go into the full back bend today, I feel so much more opened up in my back and chest after this practice! Definitely will try your other back bend flow videos as well 💜 I really appreciate how you take the time to warm up into the final pose. It really helps my body adjust into it rather than forcing it!

Good morning! I think the last time I did this class was about 2 weeks ago- been doing some of your other videos in that time. I like to come back to stuff I have found particularly challenging to see the difference and today it showed! That is very smart !!! I bet that one day you will fall in love with backbends - they feel amazing !! And not the very deep ones. But for example a good strong and open wheel pose is da best !!

Спасибо! В конце практики получился очень достойный мостик (обычно не могу выпрямить руки и посмотреть в пол). Хотя упражнение "почти мост на одной руке" думаю мне (0му уровню) не удалось прилично сделать 🥴

Ну «прилично» это понятие очень относительное. Мостик это уже не для начинающих. Поза требует силы, хорошего прогиба и раскрытых плеч. Поэтому поздравляю и рада, что занятие понравилось. Спасибо большое за сообщение !

Day 2 of this weeks challenge complete! This made me realise just how far I've come! Just a year since starting yoga and all of it practiced at home due to the pandemic and I couldn't have done half of this in March 2020. Thanks for a great practice! 🥰🌻🤸🏼‍♀️

Challenge week 2 day 1 is done! This video really helps a lot in beckbends, it is very effective for those people like me who struggle with such demanding poses like bow and wheel pose!! To be practiced again and again 🌸

Such a good preparation for backbend flow!! I overlooked on this class, it felt so great when you don’t feel like doing intense backbend but still want to feel open!!! Really gentle but strengthening at the same time!! Love how fluid your standing spinal wave are (so pleasant to watch you flow), mine is like a puppet :p gonna practice more on the standing spinal wave!!! =)

hello Nicole ! Yes I myself love this sequence...I do all these exercises to prepare for backbends. With standing waves, I will say do not rush them. Do them slower to learn. And think of your spine starting at the crown of your head (so chin tuck to chest or chin leading the way) and really feeling into every vertebrae until tailbone !!!

I truly enjoyed this video. I was unable to do everything because I had fractured my patella a year ago so modified when needed. You are an excellent instructor and I will continue to follow you and try to advance my workout as tolerated. Thank you so much!

Practice three of day five done! 🥳 I love this one, even though my spine crackled at the last seated forward fold.. 🙈 Your cues here and also in the crow tutorial were really helpful for me to get into these poses that are still a real challenge for me. 🙌

Hola ! You are most welcome and first of all congratulations !! I wish you an easy and happy pregnancy ! Unfortunately it is impossible to include all the different modifications for pregnancy and all the other different conditions into every video. Prenatal yoga classes are rather different because yoga teachers are trained to be very cautious. So I would advise you to search for prenatal specific classes and try them out.

Hello Maya ! Welcome to the channel ! thanks for taking a moment to leave me a message. I would suggest to practice on a regular basis ... also focus on stretches for shoulders, add little core strength classes and hip stretches. You can find all of that on my channel !

I really love working out on your videos! They challenge me to do better... but I have an issue.. the sound is too low for almost all of your videos I have played.... does anyone else feel the same?

Day 5 practice 3 done! After the crow pose practice , I had no energy left. Took a few minutes break and pressed play on this one. I was happy to see my evolution on the camel pose and the back bend. Can somebody tell me why, I always count faster than you while practicing?🥵😁

wonderful backbend practice! I love the spinal waves and am going to try and incorporate them into my practice more! My mid back is always tight and usually sore, this helped so much today! Challenge complete!
