I was pleasantly surprised to see this pop up in my feed! I would love to see more tutorials on Backendless. I am a BI data engineer and one of my clients uses PowerApps and is looking for other alternatives. My favorite no/low code tools I've found have been Backendless and Wappler. I've only done research so far (havent jumped into the tools yet), but they look promising. They both give me a lot of deployment flexibility and some powerful coding capabilities. While I may use Wappler for some personal projects where I want complete control of my environment, I love how Backendless is completely focused on the cloud. It's built to support Kubernetes, utilizes "serverless" cloud computing functions, supports creating microservices, and has pub/sub functionality.

Planning to use Appgyver as frontend. My requirement for the backend is to store just user input data/texts and very less/minimal images (Mostly no video as of now) which would be the best backened database? Backendless or Firebase if i want to reduce my backend cost/month? Or is there a better alternative? PS: I dont have any experience in coding but not an issue unless backend is very complicated and no step by step online guide available

I am trying to figure out whether to stick with the traditional frontend with something like react and use xano/backendless for backend or switch to a complete nocode solution like bubble. Also looking at the possibility of using a JS environment and use bubble for the backend. Would love your comments.
@docwilliams
@docwilliams 3 жыл бұрын
George that’s a great question! It really depends on your goals with your project. Bubble can be a really good option and using xano it keeps it very streamlined.

@@docwilliams Hi there, A few days ago I started using backendless and I have to say I am loving it. I have been searching for a while now for a platform like this where you can use the full power of a Javascript environment and combine with the new found powers of drag and drop. The amazing thing is you can even choose to go for a coded path or a totally no code path. Even the drag and drop features resembles the Javascript syntax we are all used to. Backendless is just amazing. Would love to see more videos on backendless. Thank you for your reply and look forward to your future videos.

For a backend solution I would suggest Xano. The structure is concise and powerful.

So, I have made a marketplace on adalo. I just want users to post one or two pictures, include a youtube link api, and be able to chat with one another. I also have some filtering logic built in adalo, but Adalo seems slow, glitchy, and the chats don't work well. Would switching to one of these services potentially make those problems go away? Really would appreciate your response!
@docwilliams
@docwilliams 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Hawkins great question! It could be a solution. I have seen some speed changes when people are you using one of these databases instead but I have noticed it varies greatly on the app based on the components and functionality. I would def hit up Barrett from Adalo for more info. Here's his contact info: barrett@adalo.com My solution would try it out but in general I tend to shift to a no code platform meant for the specific task. For marketplaces I tend to lean on building with Sharetribe go or sharetribe flex depending on the stage of the MVP, the validation etc. Hope that helps!

nice video, thank you. i'm still very new to this low code programming. i started with appgyver and xano as backend. but what surprises me is the limitation of the internet file bandwidth. you have with xano only 1gb and from 59 dollars per month only 25gb. even in the business tariff for 249 dollars per month it is just 1000gb. if you have many users and many pictures or even videos you are immediately over it. do you use xano only for other things ? so no pictures and photos ? do you store these files somewhere else ? greetings
@docwilliams
@docwilliams 3 жыл бұрын
Hey welcome! That's a good point it really depends what you want to do. For larger files such as video and pictures I try to build out my storage using Google Cloud Platform instead. It really depends the project you're doing but yes.

Great video as always! If you chose xano for your backend what would you choose for your front end? Which no-code tool and why? And i am not sure if backendless is free because after a certain period of your registration you have to pay one-time fee of 50 dollars to use the free plan.
@docwilliams
@docwilliams 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Billy! For the frontend it depends on the type of no code project I'm working on. It varies if I'm trying to build a web app, marketplace, internal tool for a company. Do you have a specific type of no code you're asking about regarding the frontend? That's interesting about the $50 fee I've used them for a while and never been charged. Perhaps it's a new thing or the pricing is if the account has used a certain amount in the database? Hmm I'll have to check that out thanks!

Sorry quick question..... If using appgyver for frontend....does it make sense to use either xano or firebase for backend and then backendless if I want to use it for front and back end....I guess I don't see the point in using backendless as just backend when it also had frontend features....I have an idea in mind and trying to find the right tools....I can code it but 😩😩😩😩 lol
@docwilliams
@docwilliams 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lucia great question! This all depends on the functionality you're looking for. Backendless has option to do both but that doesn't mean it'll give you the functionality you want. I would research what your trying to do and look up in their documentation if they offer that for the front end backendless.com/features/#backendless-core You could also do AppGyver with Xano but again I might use that solution. Let me know if you want to give more. Hope that helps take care!

@@docwilliams yes that helps a lot. I spent ample time binge watching what I could last night. With Appgyver also offering database functionality, I saw someone said Xano will give more scalability...do you agree or for a beginner do you think just using Appgyver's database resources will suffice...maybe I should do a small scale project and see first 🤔 Also thanks for the reply...I tried to join your discord but the link wasn't loading 😪

@@cycya9568 No problem! gahh sorry about that! I'll get you a link we might be switching platforms from discord stay tuned. Quick note on AppGyver I have to do a new video on it because they recently changed their offerings for the platform. They no longer provide database functionality natively, you have to use a third party provider now.

@midnightcoders
@midnightcoders 2 жыл бұрын
@@docwilliams the video focused on three aspects: 1. validation (presence of case studies) - you pointed out that Backendless has them and Xano does not 2. pricing - the example you picked (file storage) shows that Backendless gives more for less $$ 3. getting started for newbs (both platforms do that, however, Backendless does way more with the Missions system, where the user actually performs tasks in the platform and gets rewarded for getting them done right) In all three categories Backendless clearly does more, yet, your conclusion was different, therefore the objectivity is questioned.
