Today I finished backfilling around the catch basin and started placing rip rap in the detention pond. I was able to get the dirt around the pipe and track it in then I placed the rip rap around the pipe and the sides of the catch basin. I roughed in the banks with the loader and got the detention close to it's finally shape. Then I cut the swale on the north end of the pond, installed the fabric and placed the rip rap on it. I also got the ditch graded and lined with rip rap around the concrete flare to the pipe under the road. The next day I finished taking all the rip rap off the side of the building and hauling it to the property where I took the fill. I got a little backhoe time in loading the truck. The pond is really taking shape now and all it needs is some topsoil and seed. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #riprap

...........LOL...........engineers?????? Btw, you did a fine job, good for you!!! Too bad the owner had to pay twice, the second time for a detention pond that'll not work any better than the first one......which you did a fine job of building! Soon, you should expect engineers to start asking you "what is your opinion how we can build this?" The really good engineers consult good contractors a lot. I've met many of those kinds of engineers (public works' designer flops) and I gladly deposited their 'very large bundles of cash' in my bank accounts!

I feel bad for this poor guy just trying to run a legit indoor playground and he's having to pay all this money to get a detention basin, then a larger detention basin, and get some rip rap placed on a slope, then get it removed for a retaining wall. What's next?

Are they sure? 'They' may hire a new set of engineers and you may be making changes again! Nice job and a lot of work (some redundant). BUT - $$$- talks! One major thing I don't like is there needs to be a grate of some sort over the open side to keep kids OUT. I know when we were kids, we'd play hide & seek in that thing. Couple nuts would wander under the roadway. Looks like a hazard to me but your work is done well as you do. Take care. Sonny (CT)

Really enjoy your videos. Uh I've got a question for you though. Well a couple actually. What year is your mini excavator? An have you ever had any major trouble out of it? I had the chance to purchase one couple days ago. But it had a blown head gasket though it wasn't mixing it in the oil though it had blown on the exhaust side. I mean it still ran good an everything. But I didn't know enough about that brand of mini excavator though really. I passed on it but a buddy of mine bought it though he gave$13,500 was that a good deal I thought it was even with a blown head gasket. The machine it's self looked really good. And mini excavator's are pretty high now days for a new one. But you an letsdig18 are the only ones I can think of that have that brand im not even going to try and spell that lol.

Thank you! It’s a 2019 it has 915 hours on it right now. The only problem I had with it was the hydraulic pump needed adjusted but for some reason they couldn’t turn it down so they replaced it. That was around 600 hours. They are suppose to be set at 87 mins was at 100 so it was actually overworking the engine and causing it to run hot. I’m guessing that was the problem with the one you spoke about. Now that the pump is correct is runs great and much cooler. They are great machines and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one. Silly question but why didn’t they want to leave that rip rap on the slope instead of taking it off and building a wall? Maybe I just missed the explanation in the video. Especially like me when most of it ends up being hand work all by myself. Looks really nice Brandon.

Brandon, when I first came out here it was Jetting, Plate compactors on a BHLDR and Arrow Stompers . Now, Jetting is a No No, due to draught, and almost everywhere is Mechanical Compaction, with a sheepsfoot wheel on BHLDR's, excavators, and Mini excavators, even a few sheepsfoots on CTL's. Oh and a Soil tech ( Dirt Cop ) with a Nuke tester, because they don't always trust a sand cone test, also I hear the sand ( ASTM ) is too expensive.

Now if memory serves me right, you were saying before that the engineer designed the low flow orifice to have a metal plate on the inside with 2 half-inch holes? If so, I'm betting those holes will clog up on the first good storm or two. Poor design if you ask me. If the owner needs a simple correction solution to the clogging issue in the future, let me know and I can email you a plan...

Yes I’m suppose to put a trash guard on the outside but I will definitely get in touch with you and see what you have. I know it will be better than this design. Appreciate you watching

Some engineers amaze me. I wonder what they would say if the elevations hadn't have worked out? Sometimes it seems like they just imagine something in their head, put it on a piece of paper, and expect you to make chicken salad out of chicken crap. I would like to have a sheepsfoot compaction wheel myself. I'd like to have a 12" & a 24". I figured if the ditch is less than 24" wide I would just use the 12" one but, for a bigger area I could use the 24". They are kinda pricey though and I don't need one very often. The project is turning out great my man. Good job and stay safe.

Yeah that’s what I was wondering, it’s like do all this and get to the ditch oh look it doesn’t work lol! Yeah I’ve not yet priced a wheel I was guessing $3k-$4k but I could be wrong. Appreciate you watching man don’t work too hard

@@mrs.eliteearthworks It ain't easy to make chicken salad out of chicken crap but, it can be done with enough time and money. Sounds like the dude you live with better be careful with whatever he says, he may get something he didn't bargain for? Lol

@@eliteearthworksllc yeah somewhere around 3k unless its vibratory. Then they go to about 9k. I don't need one very often but it would be nice to have.

With all the excavator work that was going on in this job, I thought for sure that we were going to see that pretty little girl Mrs Elite out there at some point . But no, Brandon kept all the gravy work for himself on this one. Great work Brandon!
