What I thought where I had the most confidence was actually at a beach! Not at the sand but actually at the ocean. I basically go to the waves where it hits me about knees deep. Obviously this makes it physically harder, but mentally I knew that if i flipped myself the water will catch my head. I knew that the backflip wasn't as hard physically then mentally so I was willing to trade the more physically and make it easier mentally. When I tried it the first time, I just couldn't commit mid jump so I basically did an awkward landing where my body rotated sideways mid air and the water completely caught me. Right after I felt that the water was 100% going to protect me, I felt all this confidence and tried it the second time. I got it down, but the landing was something I needed to work on, so i kept trying and eventually got it perfect. What I did to progress the backflip was I got closer to land and less on water, so eventually I went only maybe about shins deep and I was able to do the backflip much easier. This is just my way of doing the backflip and for those who have the beach near them! Hope this helps.

I used to have the fear of doing a front flip and my mind kept preventing me from doing until I went to the beach, the sand was soft and the fall doesn't hurt as bad as a wooden or concrete floor, after I did it on the sand a couple of times and didn't have the fear afterwards, I started doing it on grass then the wooden floor, then the concrete floor, I got more and more confidence over time and now, I can do it easily. Just find a place where u know u wont feel as much pain as other places and just do it (Nike)
@erebus3810 жыл бұрын
I started with the back handspring first and while you don't have to get them down properly,it still helps to have some mastery over that because once you're doing them,the fear that prevents you from trying backflips should already be long gone. A back handspring is also far easier to do than an actual backflip and once you're comfortable with the back handspring the transition to backflips are far easier. The only difference with the backflip from the back handspring is learning to jump higher and make sure you spin quicker by kicking your knees up towards your head. This still took me a little while to develop the speed in the spinning motion of the flip for a little while before I landed my first one without my hands touching the ground,but once I started to get the hang of it on flat ground I only kept getting better afterward until I had it down.

What I think is the best way is to start by back-diving at the pool (LOOK UP BEFORE AND WHILE YOU ARE DOING IT. I SWEAR IT WORKS) then do back-dives off the diving board (be prepared for belly flops) and then just go for it and whip it and then you can work up to a trampoline and then (maybe) the ground.

@StrivedeLaLear9 жыл бұрын
Muscle memory is the important part to people who are doing backflips for the first time. Every stunt/trickster tutorial guy preaches about repetition and persistent progression, and that works 110%. Get used to the feeling. It doesn't matter how you get used to it. Tramopline, doing it on mats, back handsprings, rolling backwards on the ground. You'll always get better, but jumping high definitely helps if you get that fast snap, which leads to momentum. The way I helped myself overcome the fear was I constantly said to myself "I'll whip hard, so at least I wont land on my head, I'll land on my belly or my ass." but you do want some height. The motion of the hands and slight hinge in the knees helps with that spring. You get scared when trying to ride a bike for the first time but your mind has that muscle memory. Do it once and you'll have no problem doing it again.

I have got over my backflip fear when I first tried it on a soft mat. I actually never though of doing the flip, I decided to just jump, go backwards, and rotate, and found myself back on my feet with no problem! Before then I was completely terrified of doing one, despite whatever platform material I'm on. I never even imagined being able to do one, because I would be afraid of breaking my head/neck. But on that day I was relaxed, calm, and I did it. Relaxation really helps out on this, and any other flip. Now I'm progressing on the sand, which I'm doing now, and then moving onto the grass. Don't give up everyone! Once you get it, it will feel absolutely amazing. Good luck!
@imrnvi57310 жыл бұрын
@Harmonizer808 A backflip is easier physically, while a front flip is easier mentally. This is because with a front flip your going forward which is something everyone is used to, and with a front flip you see the ground the whole time. Although with a backflip it takes less physical energy due to your just flipping back and you barely have to tuck, while with a front flip you have to tuck like crazy.

Well, you're still flipping over yourself, therefore it is not inaccurate. It's just like a back full, when people call it a backflip 360, technically it is still a backflip with a 360 degree twist, so that is also not inaccurate.

4:06 when I do that one I can plase both my knees on the ground, still touching my shoulders. Either one one each side of the head or both on one side. So the knees touch the ground and the top of my shoulders. For some reason I am really flexible that way. The bridghe is more problematic.

The place that gives me the least fear for doing a backflip is my bed but guess what I've already broken my bed trying to learn a backflip
