Greens 4 checkers on one point is the same as 3 checkers on one point. So Jeff Ward gave the rules before Art Benjamin in this position. His book is called "The doubling cube" Vol. 1.

Great advice! btw 13 pips left is a NO-DOUBLE

Think this is one of Art Benjamin's (11-12 Rule, as appears in Primetime Magazine Three checkers left and variations").

The first time I heard about end game positions like that was printed in 1982 by Jeff Ward. He managed to give good easy rules up to 3 vs 3 checkers. For 3 vs. 4 and 4 vs. 4 the rules were not complete, even though computers checked it out at this time. But this example presented here could easily figured out by the rules he gave at this time and would give you the same benchmark.

I'm having no issues at all with the audio, the volume is very clear (and my volume settings are normal here). It's probably something with your setup. Test with other videos.

Interesting. You focused on the take/pass part of it, but if I've got 3 checkers in my home board and he has 4 on ace point, is that double a given? Or are there subtleties on when to offer the cube, based on pip count or whatever? Thanks!

10 pips or fewer is a D/P. 11 or 12 pips is a D/T. 13 pips or more is ND/T.

Although, the double would have/should have obviously been given sooner though for the person on roll once it became a 5 roll vs 5 roll or 4 roll vs 4 roll or 3 roll vs 3 roll based on that rule.

Sure, this is illustrating the rule. It holds true for the redouble also

Does it also apply if the villain has her 4 checkers spread across her ace and deuce points? She’s still on a guaranteed 2 roll finish.

It holds true. You can also check out my video on N-roll positions

This rule is not all that accurate. There are six three checkers positions with 9 pips; one (333) is a take. There are six three checkers positions with 10 pips; a half of them (622, 442, 433) are takes.

Thanks for sharing this tip ;o) Here is the link to the corresponding comment from Mochy (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqiQpIBnrNRojM0si=gJBrbu10o6C_EtiD&t=793). The whole match is commented by Mochy in English and is very instructive.
