Amazing one, as always! When I return from my holidays, I will order the book which I already added on my wishlist! 😉 Thanks, Dan!

Danke, Sir for the good tips/examples regarding the quick vs contemplative thinking processes regarding the supposed obvious vs correct (and different) plays in the great game of backgammon…very helpful to remember this tip…just like your “second best move” video you mentioned…thanks, again for your excellent information.

Nowadays my biggest blunders come after I overthink the positions. This is kind of good news for me because I end up in time trouble a lot.. So I will try to just follow my gut most of the time and try the fancy plays in a later round of improvement.

That can also happen. Thinking slow when you should be thinking fast. I recommend the book a lot.

I admit I wrote that comment without watching the video (the worst kind of youtube comment!). haha in both positions 1 and 2 my system 1 was correct and system 2 started overruling it (although I didn't let it). In position 3 system 1 just didn't notice the correct move at all and system 2 was undecided. In the last position system 1 was undecided and system 2 decided on the wrong move. So overall I'd say my system 1 is pretty well tuned and system 2 needs some calibration haha.

It's sad that in my culture, backgammon players did not appreciate the information about Kahneman's book (neurobiology too), although I tried to write important points from the book throughout the year( for the fact that I recommended all the multivitamins of group B and nutritional supplements, they called me a dr*g addict hahahaha))) Kahneman is a very good book for ANY bg player on ALL levels of play

Ive often thought xg should have a 20 or 30 second forced contemplative mode. I think most players would see about a half point improvement in PR in that mode. Well, most players at say 10 or higher anyway.
