Thank you Justin, that was great! At the position at 2:50 how many rollouts needed for XG to overturn it to a Double/Take? 2592 wasn't enough for me.

Great tone, clear, and as already mentioned, not too much or too little. I really like the repetitive message reinforcement, so if it doesn’t sink in straight away, you reiterate the learning point. Learning visually with XG animation makes it easier to learn for a lot of people, myself included, who prefer this type of visual instruction. Also, bite-size pieces of new information aid learning. But, how far can you go with these lessons Justin, there’s so much too Backgammon. Please, keep them coming. What’s next?

Hey Justin -- I know this is an old video, but hoping you'll respond. When you talk about "reference positions", and that "anyone that has studied backgammon should know these", where does one learn them?? 501 essential backgammon puzzles?? Where can I find a collection of reference positions for good pattern recognition?

Cube Like A Boss is a better resource (I have both books). Olsen sets up hundreds of positions in all phases of the game and examines the subtle differences that make them change from no-double to play-on. Very instructive. You can do the same yourself with Robertie's book and XG/gnubg, but Olsen's is easier to study especially when you are away from a computer since he includes all the XG statistics for each position.
