Keep them coming! Very instructive. You give the 'Why' as well as the 'What'.

I have been playing backgammon for 40 years albeit not at master level. I think these are excellent videos and have picked up some useful tips watching these. Keep up the good work Justin and continue with the theatrics and arm waving :-)

Well presented! I hope you continue further with the blitz theme Justin? 🎲🎲🎲

Justin, dont forget when the top 2 correct moves are VERY close, you should highlight both with the CTRL key and then hit the ++ analysis to make it go a little deeper on just those 2 moves and then it will separate the error between those top 2 moves a bit more :)

why didnt xg hit with 6-5? cause it brought a diversified checker down aswell at 8:07
@JustinNowellPlaysBG4 жыл бұрын
Great question, though the difference between both plays is only .001 I think it comes down to the position of the cube. With no gammons being active in a money game without a cube turn the blitz on the 2 has less value. If gammons were active hitting would be correct by a wider margin.

@@JustinNowellPlaysBG do the rollout Justin in XG.
@sjsphotog4 жыл бұрын
another reason - you need at least 9 or 10 in the zone for the strongest blitz and if you hit and split with the back checker you dont have enough firepower. so bring 2 down and also block his 2 anchor if he gets in so he can only hop out with 5-5
@sjsphotog4 жыл бұрын
XG Rollout analysis on the 6-5 roll to either Hit or bring 2 down: Actual best is 24/18 13/8 for +.0.337to run out and cover 5 pt then 2nd with a slight error is bring 2 down 13/8 13/7 which is -0.006 and then 3rd best (blunder) is hit from the 13 which is -0.068

All these positions also satisfy "it's usually better to make a point than hit loose" But I think it's a coincidence and your rule of diversified builders is better - e.g. XGID=aBaB--CA----eE---c-e----B-:0:0:1:56:0:0:0:1:8

You should think about a teaching subscription service. You can post these short lessons and also play matches against XG with commentary about what is happening. I’d pay 10 bucks or so a month for something like that.
@sjsphotog4 жыл бұрын
he already does paid teaching lessons how do you think he got so rich to pay for his tournament entry fees :)
@NickBriglia4 жыл бұрын
I don’t think he is rich and 100 dollar lessons eliminates 99.9 percent of the population that can’t afford it. That’s an old piano lesson model that doesn’t work any more. Even piano teachers realized that which is why they now teach online for monthly subscriptions in the 20 or 30 dollar range. The idea of getting students at 100 or 200 dollars a lesson is crazy in a digital world. He can reach many more people with affordable online lessons at maybe 19.99 a month. I’d pay for it.

Ok,ok,ok, let’s just pause a second Justin. First video in this series was spot-on, couldn’t fault it, and it had an air of authority about it. Second video, nowhere near as good. Great content, but why all the theatrics and stupid arm waving? I know it’s pantomime season Justin, but not in a serious lesson. Just teach and inform Justin. I thought this second video was cringing and difficult to watch, because you just took too long to get the new information across, and the arm waving is very distracting. I’m just being honest. I sincerely hope you continue with this series, but just cut out the crap theatrics.

It is MUCH easier for me to remember rules of thumb if you think: "Oh yes, there is this funny likeable grandmaster who made this videos where i remember exactly the rule of thumb because of his armmovements ...".
