BACKLAPPING a SCOTT BONNAR 45 - (17" Spring Prep)

Gday old mate,
Backlapping ya reel and bed knife is a great way of saving a little scratch and inconvenience of pulling the mower apart and sending down to the big smoke for a grind. Here I will share how I do this reel simple task to maintain the second love of your life!

Cheers Dan learnt heaps on the old reel mowers. I have a client with a Bon Scottar that's offered me one for cheap so might grab it. No call for it for mowies in Adelaide unless you're doing tennis courts but build it an they will come. Editing skills getting better every video 👍👍

Do you have to backlap push reel mowers?? I think a push one would be good for me to learn cyclinder mower basics and how they cut.

G'day Dan. I would presume so but, not having experience with a push cylinder mower I can't say with 100% certainty. If I think about the principle of cylinder mowers, there is light contact between cylinder and bed knife that will need maintenance. Hope that helped mate 👍. On ya for getting one man, I'm looking at doing the same....

@@danielslawncare can back lap a push reel. Just take the wheels off pull the sun gear out and the key and swap them to the other side this will make the reel go backwards. Then add ya paste and go for a spin down the road to grind it. Then when your done swap the gears back to the correct sides check thed rell spins the right way and your good to go. Annoying but it can be done.

A good tip for you is to clean the reel and bed knife first. Oven cleaner is the best for this!
