Thanks for creating this tutorial. I have shown before, but gave mine a go today and happy with the result. The only question that I have is the tightening of the nut below the adjustment screw, no matter how many times I turned it, it never tightened. Is this critical? Do I need a new “bolt”? I did tighten the outer nut that locks the adjustment in place. It cut very well.

Glad you found it helpful and got a good result! I wonder if the thread on the lower nut is stripped? Or, like you say, possibly the bolt thread itself. It's definitely not critical but will help hold your adjustment... definitely not OEM and an addition recommended by others. Perhaps something to look at the next time you pull the reel out or need to adjust.

Hey just wondering how do you paint your restorations I’m doing my first with blue hammer tone. Painted one side flipped it and paint peels in contact points on under material. Tried putting the parts on spray can cap and that leaves indents one the paint on the tiger side. Any ideas would help. Cheers

It's a tricky one--hang your parts for painting if you can ie. on the laundry line or better yet under cover

Love Larn yeah. And just have the string of whatever at a spot that will be hidden ? Cheers.

Yep. Toss an old bolt in a bolt hole to create a hanging spot too. Wire coat hangers come in handy as you can shape to create a good hook

This goes against everything I've ever learnt haha I thought it was supposed to just make contact and cut paper, if not then you're just pinching (like you did to the newspaper) and tearing the grass blades and not cutting them
