This is an awesome build. It caught my attention on IG the other day after noticing the way you attach the continents to your backer and how you use your LED lighting. I made a Chicago Cubs W flag that stands off and has LEDs behind it but I used threaded inserts to hold the W on. However, this rare earth magnet idea might be in my future. Can you put a link to them in the bio? Nice work!

I'd love to see the back...assuming you have the lights feed through the back. Is there another panel over the back to hide the cord? I'm making a name sign for my husband's work room and was wondering how others did this. How did you measure/attach the magnets on the continents to make it line up with the pucks?

This looks so amazing, I am in the Air Force and my squadron flies all over the world with our C-17’s. I’d do love to do this build on a wall in our squadron. I want to do my own smaller version for my office. What kind of magnets and lighting do you use? Could you list a full material list of this?

Phillips hue LED strips were mentioned in the video, but you could get cheaper single color. Neodymium magnets were used.

Hi Kim, Each piece we make is custom made to order so we can create the map in which ever orientation you prefer.

What was the process for getting a CNC shop to cut it out? Did you buy the foam and then look up a design on the internet, then call up a CNC shop with what you wanted and went from there?

We programmed the drawing in autocad and then sent it to our local CNC shop to have them cut it out for us.

How you put the dowel hole in same position with the board ?

We use a CNC to locate and drill all the holes to ensure they are all perfectly placed

It's not that we don't like Antartica, it's just because this version of the world map doesn't include it. Due to the nature of CNC cutting, it is tough to find a map that keeps people from all corners of the world happy.
