I resonate completely with what you have said here. Some video ideas feel like an obligation and it takes me ages to get through them because I'm not enjoying the process. Same with family coming first. They will always win over making videos

“When I enjoy my work, I make better content.” So true! Those words really resonated with me. And I liked what you said about trying something new with your content. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve been trying to make more gaming videos that aren’t Let’s Plays anymore and I’ve been having fun with it even though it has been a lot more work. Having fun is what it should be about. I’ve always told myself that I would stop making KZbin videos the day I stopped having fun doing it.

Cool cool! I've been knocking back some achievements on Steam for various games. Edit, I want to make it clear I do enjoy doing that, but i only play games I like and am in the mood for so that helps.

Heya! i found you through the backlog video and its been neat seeing you progress through it! Made me want to work on mine with a fresher approach rather than the must do attitude of before that spiraled out into a rabbit hole of gacha games (don't ever end on that abyss😨). I have been enjoying seeing the more refined approach of videos on the games you finish but even if its just a simple recap like those 10 games videos, it is still fine so don't end up pushing till burnout (that would break the point of the whole thing as you said lol). The slower approach to videos is good, so don't worry too much👍 I have been thinking that it would be nice to have a way to discuss games we're playing or we're somewhat interested in playing from backlogs with other people from the comments. To know things to take into account in said games but also build interest in the games, a sort of companionship group for backlogs given it seems most of us play single player. This is a suggestion and by no means you have to listen it 🙃but if you ever want to chat about games that might not end up on videos or which game to pick up next, a server, forum, or whatever you're comfortable with would be pretty cool. I like games but i also like talking about games 😅

I think smaller communities are much more community like. When channels get large, it loses the community feel.

I can totally relate! A few years ago I repurchased a whole bunch of PS3 games that I had finished in my 30s so that I could "make content" (even writing these words seems icky). I had fun revisiting them, but after sitting on them for many months, nothing came of it. One day I decided to finally make a quick video about one of my favorites: Max Payne 3. It's short, it's scripted and my voiceover sounds pretty stiff, but I had fun recording it, capturing gameplay, and editing the whole thing in just a few hours. A few more months passed and I felt guilty for not creating any videos, so I sat down, wrote a longer script, and finally produced a video review of sorts for one of the other games. My end goal was to create a video for each of the 30 games I had on my list. However, I had very little fun, I was constantly scraping scripts or recordings only to redo them and still not be happy with the result. I eventually gave up. I created a couple more videos because "I had to", only to take them down a few weeks later because they felt soulless. I do want to make videos about the things that I love, but I also came to terms with the fact that it's fine to mess around and not care about "KZbin growth" or "subscriber count" (gross!). Sure, some consistency would be great, but I would rather put out fewer videos each year that I had fun making rather than churning them out for the sake of it. Anyway... this is a long-winded way of saying that you're making the right call. :) And to anyone reading who's feeling guilty for not making the videos they know they're capable of making... don't be so harsh on yourself and remember all this should be fun.

I used to try and do a video series called Backlogged Gaming where I was gonna talk about every game I played. Yeah that idea is hell. It pretty much permanently burnt me out on doing videos.

I do and I have dabbled but not yet settled on another tracker method. It’s something I am thinking about so I’ll be sure to mention in a future video when I’ve picked a method 😊
