First step to enjoyong Sekiro is to stop thinking its a Souls-Like. Its not. Its an action game.

I hope Elden Ring was just the necessary step towards something as good as DS3 was, and not the actual new direction of boss design philosophy, otherwise I don’t think they will ever be able to top DS3.

DS3 was definitely peak (have changed my mind since my ranking video 😂)

my comfort game is monster hunter, especially world. it's something that I can play now without a care what monster I'm fighting - either the last endgame boss or the easiest first monster I encountered . I always go back to this game whenever I want to waste my free time or literally have nothing to do.

I can totally relate! A few years ago I repurchased a whole bunch of PS3 games that I had finished in my 30s so that I could "make content" (even writing these words seems icky). I had fun revisiting them, but after sitting on them for many months, nothing came of it. One day I decided to finally make a quick video about one of my favorites: Max Payne 3. It's short, it's scripted and my voiceover sounds pretty stiff, but I had fun recording it, capturing gameplay, and editing the whole thing in just a few hours. A few more months passed and I felt guilty for not creating any videos, so I sat down, wrote a longer script, and finally produced a video review of sorts for one of the other games. My end goal was to create a video for each of the 30 games I had on my list. However, I had very little fun, I was constantly scraping scripts or recordings only to redo them and still not be happy with the result. I eventually gave up. I created a couple more videos because "I had to", only to take them down a few weeks later because they felt soulless. I do want to make videos about the things that I love, but I also came to terms with the fact that it's fine to mess around and not care about "KZbin growth" or "subscriber count" (gross!). Sure, some consistency would be great, but I would rather put out fewer videos each year that I had fun making rather than churning them out for the sake of it. Anyway... this is a long-winded way of saying that you're making the right call. :) And to anyone reading who's feeling guilty for not making the videos they know they're capable of making... don't be so harsh on yourself and remember all this should be fun.

I played sekiro first. Then I started DS3. It took me the longest time because Im not a gamer . Through darkness and frustration I pulled through. When I started Elden ring on the other hand I was delighted. I can actually jump now and I have so many checkpoints unlike DS3. Moral of the story try not to start with elden ring because you might be a bit overwhelmed. DS3 feels as if you are the final and only candle in a dark world. The world dark is an understatement .

The best thing I did was start looking at my backlog as a library of future fun, though it didn't completely fix my problem. I also tend to favor coop games if anyone asks & my one buddy is essentially permanently online unless it's before 2pm or after 1am. Which means I've pumped too many hours into games like Helldivers 2 & even beaten games like Suicide Squad & Gotham Knights (this ones pretty fun actually). So I've still got work to do, but over the last 2.5 years I've beat over 60 games which in my books is a healthy number.

GTA, any of them since GTA3. Load it up, get in a car, turn on the radio and go for a drive, before committing war crimes. Pokemon, again, any of them. It's about knowing what to expect and still enjoying it. Rocket League, load up Spotify and play game after game after game for a couple albums. Latest one may be Persona, I started 4 Golden after Christmas and I've beaten that and 5 Royal. The gameplay loop is very satisfying.

Yes. Is it a 10/10? Absolutely not. Too many empty areas, not enough of some of the new weapons, story was extremely lackluster, it has flaws. But every single game does, compared to the base which I'd give as close to perfect as possible this is a solid 8-8.5, absolutely nothing to scoff at and it only isn't higher to me is because I'm comparing it to the base game. Compared to others? 9-9.5. If that makes sense lol.

Performance issue ruined it for me and I stopped gaming for since. I'm doing coding and config on arch now for a hobby. I learned to stop spam rolling a while ago, but to learn to not spam roll when the boss does a super attack that's really hard to dodge and drops my framerste to 20fps, with crazy stutter, isn't something I wanted to learn.

One good tip to keep the overwhelm of numbers down is also being intentional when you're buying our obtaining games. Is it in your cart because you couldn't pass up the great deal in this sale? Why did you feel like that? Look at all the sales steam has and realise that the game will probably be on sale again later so you don't have to impulse buy it now. Just because it's a great deal now doesn't mean you have to get it now or that you are actually interested in the game. Just let your cart sit fit at least a night, longer if you're someone who is easily hyped up and impulse buys stuff and come back with one simple question: do I actually want to pay this game? And if yes, how soon, might a better deal come along, what is the max price I want to spend on this title? This keeps you from inflating your library with stuff you're not 100% interested in to play at some point wedged you get it. In the same vain: just kick out free titles you're no longer interested in unless that might means you will permanently lose access. A bit of intentional living never hurt anybody and you from a hoarding problem.

Gotta admits, playing the first BioShock has me feel comfort just because how familiar I felt playing it. Despite how dark the game is, I felt like I strangely comfort, is also probably because I beat it multiple times, even on hard mode. With Survivor Mode being the only one I haven't tried it yet. Another comforting game I had was Legend of Mana with the whimsical art, the pixel art looks so amazing, the looked gorgeous for a PS1 title. Made me so glad to see it get a Switch remastered port. Having to get it physically since I wind up getting the Korean import with English support since the US didn't have that, only digitally. Looking forward to getting Visions of Mana when I get the chance of getting it. I'm glad that the Mana series is still continues. The Mana titles I got the chance to play has always cheer me up.
