Welcome to Rocinha, Brazil's largest favela the largest favela in South America! I was again a tad nervous coming here to film but I got linked up with a local there called Gustavo who was from the favela. He took me to places your average tourist doesn't visit in hunt for the real Brazilian experience, safe to say we found it! Welcome to Rio 🇧🇷

Again, the favelas are absolutely nothing like I had expected. I thought they were miserable places of horrible poverty but here I see people living their lives, running businesses ... incredible. It amazes me to think of the logistics of getting supplies, electricity, clean water, etc up into those hillsides. Thank you for another wonderful video, Ben (and the lovely Kat)!

I belive the electric is free in some favelas they tap into the mains that supply all the big hotels n resorts in the big tourist type areas...

Ben i don't know if anyone already asked you about that but do you have any plans to visit other places in Brazil? I like the favela videos but would be cool if you also go to the north where the indigenous live or maybe to the south where there's a lot of germans immigrants, there's some cities in the south of brazil that students learn basic german on school. It's crazy because in the city that i live in Brazil, the city hall has a flag of Germany aside the brazilian and state flag. My country culture is really diversed, i want to see you exploring that. Yeah i also live in the south and i have a lot of friends with polish, german and italian surname, it's pretty common, my uncle used to teach me some italian language lessons when i was young, he said that his grandfather used to speak italian perfect. The european traditions in the south are still very strong.

@@BackpackerBen Here's a tip about to save travelling in Brazil, you are now in Rio, if you use Buser (It's basic a Uber of Bus) You can go to Sao Paulo for only R$70BRL ($15usd) and then go to Porto Alegre with an airplane for R$350BRL.
