Cool! My friends always do cabin life, but I always get stuck with camping haha. It is hard to get those cabins nowadays. Which is your favorite one?
@robertharley45542 жыл бұрын
The trick to getting a cabin is to have multiple people put in for it and get on the cancellation list for your choice dates as well as the days before and after. It is possible to stay at all or at least 2 of the cabins in a single trip. Oh yeah, great video of Haleakala and Mauna Kea.
@HungaroExplorer2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I will try it for my next outing. Two cabin nights are optimal To be able to enjoy the crater.

@HungaroExplorer3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Melody! Yeah, it is hard to get a cabin spot. They get booked fast, months in advance.

Do you remember if the camp ground had trees for hammocks, or if it seemed like it was tent only?
@HungaroExplorer2 жыл бұрын
It is tent only if I remember well. Paliku might have some tree area but it is off the campground.

@@HungaroExplorer Gotcha, thanks for the info. My family is visiting and will be borrowing my gear for a three day trip out there. Never been personally. Your videos help deciding what routes and camp sites to use.

@@phillipnunya6793 3 days up there sounds like a good time! Too bad that is so hard to get cabin permits lately…it would be an even better time. For 2 nights the best plan is to do 1 night at Paliku and 1 night at the Holoa cabin. I want to return soon, it is one of my favorite backpacking trip in Hawaii. I hope your family will have a great time🤙🏻

@@HungaroExplorer Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into that route. Hope things work out with your schedule and you have a good time there again as well.

I'm going to visit in February for the first time and I'm so excited. I will be traveling solo as well and I already have a permit at the same campsite. Is the trail properly marked? Any tips for solo backpacker for this particular backpacking trip? Thanks in advance!
@HungaroExplorer Жыл бұрын
The trail is pretty easy to follow, so doibg it solo shouldn’t be a problem. You can even have a paper map from the National Park so you can follow your journey like that. February the weather can be tricky. It can be rainy and cold, but the same time you can have a great warm day. Ypu have to check the weather closely before you had out. Have a good rain jacket, a 20 degree sleeping bag and some change of clothes will prepare you for the worst. If it is really bad weather you can ask the people in the cabin to let you in, but I don’t think it will be the case. Don’t forget to think about your transportation and parking situation. I hope this helps!
