Join me on an epic two night backpacking adventure in Mammoth.

This video was previously uploaded. I had to re-edit due to a copyright issue with a musical track used originally. It is one of my favorite videos, so I switched out the problem track and re-uploaded. If you've already viewed...feel free to skip. This adventure takes place during Labor Day Weekend 2016. We go up and over Duck Pass (10,814 ft) to Duck Lake then Pika Lake for night one and Barney Lake for night 2. Enjoy the scenery of the Eastern Sierras/Mammoth region in the John Muir Wilderness. The beauty is breathtaking as is the elevation! The Eastern Sierras are truly the jewel of California. Thank you for watching!
Music:
Desert Father - Josh Garrels
Rose Parade - Elliott Smith
Can't Find My Way Home - Blind Faith
Oh No - Andrew Bird
Innocent Bones - Iron & Wine
Lullaby (feat. Matt Costa) - Jack Johnson
On a Clear Day - The Beautiful Girls

Backpacked to Duck Lake during Sep- 19 windstorm when they cut the power to Mammoth, Stayed at Barney 1st night and found some bit of cover. Went to Duck Lake north outlet the following day and then camped at the mouth of Arrowhead Lake the second night. Quite a trip in the wind. Was my 8th backpacking trip ever...started at 54 yrs old 2 yrs ago and am loving it. Did 3 solos this summer. Thanks for your videos. They give me inspiration to continue.

Duck Pass is a tough uphill hike...I once took a Glamping trip up and over Duck Pass into Fish Creek Drainage/Tully Hole area...did the trip on horseback with Mammoth Lakes Pack Station. It was nice having some luxuries while in the backcountry. It was a Fly Fishing trip...beautiful area.

Thanks so much. This was a great trip. I can't wait to backpack in the Sierra's again. It'll be awhile with all the snow there now.

Heaven? Oh yeah! Just wait 'til the mosquitoes start eatin' ya. Oh, and Blind Faith? Excellent choice! The name of the lake is pronounced "pye-kuh", just like the name of the critter it's named after. Did you see any pikas? Don't you just love the color of that blue green water in those high alpine lakes? Just so inviting for a swim, but I'm sure the water is quite cold. Yet it would be so refreshing, especially after the long uphill slog. Thanks for another great video. It makes me envious because I can't get out much these days; taking care of my 93 year old mum. And lastly thanks for posting the info on the music, since I'm not familiar with most of it.

Thanks for watching! I used to use music by known artist quite a bit, but unfortunately some of my videos were being muted because of it. Now, I only use royalty free music. I finally got the pronunciation correct on pika. lol . I think I did see one on this trip if I recall. Yes...that water is frigid, but beautiful!

Hahaa...Well, it does get me pumped to put the backpack on this season. Making plans an securing permits for the summer in the Sierras. :) It was a great time. The last morning was in the 20's. Our water was frozen and my key fob wouldn't open the car when we got back to it. I had left my actual keys in the car to save some weight. It took some rubbing between my hands several times for it to work. Thanks for watching or watching again!

Catherine Gregory I've enjoyed every video you've posted. The music is nice and adds to the views you've captured from your hikes. If you think you can improve that go for it but you've set a high standard from the beginning. BTW, this is one of favorites as well (both of them really) :-)
@CatherineGregoryAdventures

Thank you. I'm thinking just sticking with lesser known indie bands who are happy for the world to hear their music is the way to go, or just the best royalty free music I can find. The well known, big, established artists are the ones that frown upon it. Thank you for the kind words and support.

Catherine, I trust your choice of music. I had noticed you usually gave attribution for the music you used. That, in itself, I thought was admirable and has allowed me to expand my personal playlist. You've been a blessing to me in that way as well as sharing your adventures. Press on pretty lady :-)
