Is this past the equestrian trail in the backcountry ? or is this inside the park on the marked trails? I spent some time in the backcountry but, was told by the rangers I couldn't camp off the main trails?

Question...I would like to just hike trails and pitch a tent along the trails in a couple spots. Is there a map? A web site? Where I can find these trails?

I think we saw y'all hiking that water up to the mesa on your first day. We had just come from measuring the depths of the Utah slots and were descending the mesa as y'all were going up.

We only saw one other group, so I may remember seeing you guys as well. Were someone in your group caring a selfie stick?

@@RestlessWonderer I had my hiking stick with my Max on the end. We were descending and had made it to the signature rock with the fissure when we heard you guys above us. Y'all had gone further south so we missed your path. I remember seeing 2 guys with big packs and caring gallons of water. That later in the day we all knew y'all were heading to make camp.

I really don't... my cousin had an idea, but we mainly used a GPS map since there is not signal out there.

There is not a lot of info about it online, but they have opened up a spot at the back of the canyon (past water crossing 6) where you can park and hike in for backpacking. There are 20 permits available daily for "first come first serve".

For your info. I've finished my "official" depth measurements of the deepest slots in Palo Duro Canyon. Boulder and Utah slots are 19ft deep, Sunday Canyon Slot is 31ft deep, and the king of the slots in PDC is the Slender Man Slot at 35ft deep. The only thing that compares to Slender Man is the North Cita Narrows which someone measured a few years ago at 35ft deep. I didn't include those in my slot depth chart because they are more of a narrows versus a slot and are pretty far out of the park.

That is really cool information, and I appreciate it. I grew up going to PDC and my cousin and I love exploring the new area... those slots are awesome and are thankfully still pristine. You channel looks great by the way, and I will be catching up on some of those videos.
