It was an amazing trip and so different from what we normally experience on a hike here in the northeast. From armadillos to incredibly hot temps - it was all new and so interesting. Really looking forward to getting back down there this fall to do a week on the Ouachita Trail.

@@HikerTrashHusbands for some reason the rest of my response got deleted. I had a question for Moe, it seems to have disappeared. Hiking in candles is difficult at the best of times as they have no support, how does he manage? The views from the top were amazing. Great to see you did a collaboration with a fellow Hiker, Paul. Enjoyed coming along with you guys. Thanks for sharing your adventure. 🙏🏽👍🏽❤️

He has been hiking in sandals for a number of years and has been building up his foot strength to do backpacking in the sandals. He’s get his sandals from Deliberate Life Designs, a small company that hand makes sandals specifically designed for hiking and backpacking.

Wow Jeff & Moe (& Oklahoma hiker of which we need to check his channel) this was epic and in those heats too, we could not have done this in those temperatures! You guys smashed this hike and had fun! Amazing waterplaces to rehydrate and dip even if water levels are lower! Well done guys, what an experience! 👍❤💃

We’re pretty sure that was the limit of what we could do hiking in terms of temps. Not sure how people do the desert hikes - if there hadn’t been that swimming so often, not sure we would have made it. For sure was an experience though and so great that we got to do it with our best friend Paul.

Looks like you did more swimming than hiking lol. Nice loop how did the climbs compare to the whites? Thanks for sharing.

Lol! We had to, it was hot. The few times we skipped a chance to take a dip, you could definitely feel it after another hour or so of hiking. Compared to NY/NH/VT/ME hikes this was a piece of cake. Trail was generally very well graded, side hilled and didn’t just attack mountains on fall lines via very eroded trails. Stiffest climb was the brush heap mountain climb, but even that wouldn’t have been as bad if it hadn’t been close to 100°.
