I agree with the other person...I had that same "heat rash" based upon not using appropriate double layer of socks. So now I use a sock liner with my wool socks to prevent it. Mine looked almost identical to yours. What fixed it was calamine lotion. Good luck. Enjoyed your video of the Manistee Trail...have done it like three times, always enjoyable and beautiful.

Now I want Culver's by far the best fast food burger

My fiancé and I have been binging your videos all morning. You and your wife are our kind of people - eating Slims Jim’s, stopping when you’re tired, mapping out where Culver’s is, but all the while, loving nature! Thanks for sharing your travels.

Can't go wrong with Slim Jim's, frequent breaks, and Culver's! It's what backpacking's all about 😁 Thanks for watching and for the kind words!

Hey! Love your videos! My brother and I are hitting this trail in the summer, just curious, do you wear pants on this hike? How is the poison ivy situation? We are new to hiking but not new to camping in the area
@DanGoesHiking2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I always wear pants while hiking, but mostly to protect against ticks. I've never really noticed the poison ivy, but I'm sure there's just as much there as most anywhere else. But if you stay on the trail you won't have an issue. It's a very popular trail so it's almost never overgrown. Enjoy your hike!

I went up there twice this spring before it started to turn green. Really cool to see all the vegetation later in the season. I think this is probably the #1 trail within a reasonable driving distance from Chicago. Thanks for sharing your adventure!

I couldn't agree more! Definitely my favorite place within 5 hours of Chicago. Thanks for watching!

Time for y'all to come down to Kentucky so Casey can be more hot and miserable and you can break out from all the green stuff here 😜! I burn and break out just looking at the sun and greenery!

Haha, yeah us and extreme heat don't get along. Guess we're too use to our Chicago winters! 🥶

I did a few miles on this loop. I started from the campground and went down the river side to about campsite 7 I think. It was up on the hill/cliff area looking over the river. My profile picture is from the bridge. I was not really in shape yet to do much more than that. It was also my 1st backpacking trip and I packed way too much food.

Bringing too much food is so common! I still usually have a leftover Cliff bar or two.

How many hours of actual hiking would you say it take to complete the loop
@DanGoesHiking4 жыл бұрын
I'd say anywhere from 8-10 hours depending on how fast you hike

I suspect that would be heat rash.

That was my best guess too. Thanks for confirming!

My son and I did that loop 2 weeks ago. What was your total mileage? Inreach said our total was nearly 25.

When I was there in March my friend tracked it and it was 19-20. 20ish seems to be the most popular answer online.

Duh fuck could happen on a 20 mile walk that you would need an emergency beacon with you?
