If you walk on past the border monument out to the north end of Armstrong Mtn, you will see two small lakes at the base of the cliffs. Quite picturesque.

Ugh yes sir, Newby Lakes. We didn't see them in person, don't know who from big brother is watching these comments, we totally legally just stayed on the american side of the border we didn't go see Newby Lakes.

Thank you for the video. I wasn't totally sure that the Iron Gate TH was a go. Now I know. Looking forward to walking this trail next summer. Calm and solitude...perfect!

This wilderness looks like a part of the Rockies. Looks like open, rolling, meadows forever. Lots of good wildflower action. Also, the Pasayten looks like an area where a wanderer could travel off trail with ease. Was that monument signifying an event from the Indian Wars?

The pasayten is amazing! And no, the monument is just a border marker for canada/USA

Do you need some kind of permit for this? I see a big tag hanging off her pack

really nice video, I have a place an hour away from the trail head and was curious if youd rather go earlier or later in the summer?

Both times are really great it's hard to pick as they both have their pro's and cons Earlier in Summer: PRO's: less people, better views (less hazy), better access to water. Cons: More snow, horrid bugs, windy as hell above tree line Later in Summer: PRO's: Wild flowers galore, less bugs, less windy & warmer Cons: Hazy, bit more people, less access to water.
