I love all the videos you provide as I am also a person who likes things packed well and I love to plan too. I am greatly enjoying this series as it is inspiring our hiking group to take that next step into backpacking. Watching how you do it makes it a lot more doable. Oh, and I totally want to turn my SUV into a camper. It will greatly help to get to the trailhead in the morning as I have a distance to travel each time I hike. Thank you! And wow! This is an amazing trail.

I visited Seattle in April. One of the day trips I took was Olympic National Park, where I did a lot of hiking. Next time I go back to Seattle, I have got to take a day trip to Mount Rainier National Park. It’s a very beautiful place with lots to see!

Ugh. I had a permit for the Wonderland trail this year but a botched knee surgery in February that had to be fixed in May ruined my plans. I love watching your trip though!
@TheHungryHiker3 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Sorry to hear about your change of plans. I'm a firm believer in that things happen for a reason. The trail isn't going anywhere and will be waiting for you when you're ready. At least now you can watch my videos to help plan your future trip. The planning process for this one was a beast to figure out. Glad you're enjoying watching this video series. It's been a lot of fun to put together.

Devils Dream is the most poorly located campsite, it is a mosquito heaven. The original campsites were located in the actual Indian Henry's meadow, but the parks folks, being ever mindful of overuse, moved it to Devils Dream...I am so thankful that I hiked this mountain in the late 1960s when you could camp in the meadow, no mosquitoes, beautiful sunsets of the mountain instead of the cold, dark and terrible location fo the new campsites at Devils Dream
@TheHungryHikerАй бұрын
Out of all the campsites we stayed at along the Wonderland Trail, Devil's Dream was one of my least favorites. It was close to town (Longmire) so I was excited to get here and get to resupply the next day. Luckily the day we stayed here, the weather had changed and the breeze had blown all the bugs out of the area, making the site not as miserable as all the other hikers had warned us about it being. I can't imagine being able to camp in the meadows. The meadows on our way here were so beautiful and the rangers who get to stay in the Indian Henry cabin are so lucky!!!
@bryanwallis2479Ай бұрын
@@TheHungryHiker We consider ourselves very lucky to be hiking the Wonderland Trail in those days. There was a shelter cabin not far from the rangers cabin and we would set our tent up in the lee of some trees, in the evening, we would just stand up turn around and watch amazing colours settle over the mountain...and, an added bonus, we could hear the rumbling of rocks coming off the glacier into Tahoma Creek...it was frigging amazing.
