Loved the videos guys! When watching you guys eat elotes locos, it reminded me that us Salvadorans like to use Worcestershire sauce. Yes, the English dark red/black sauce. Not sure why it's popular. So if you were ever wondering what that sauce is, it might be "salsa Inglesa".

I just came back from visiting after 30 yrs. The Cathedral has a stairway that leads to the top of roof of the church. I believe it was a $2 dolllar fee, great view. Also visit the waterpark name "Sihuatehuacacan " if it gets to hot, it does have a water slide. Also, the recently open a mirador " Viewpoint " near your bus stop in the video, but its a uphill trek. The viewpoint overlooks all Santa Ana. Safe Travels.

Tortas are Mexican but El Salvador has its own traditional sandwich called “Pan con Pavo” which is made with turkey, a traditional thick sauce made of spices, fresh vegetables, and a cole slaw made with mayo, mustard, and other traditional spices.

that tortas call mexican tortas, so it is not Mexican tortas only has the name that is. I don't know why but the Salvadorenos call it, So in Mexico they don't know the tortas Mexicanas
@salvadorianlivinginusa6660 Жыл бұрын
It is not called "Pan con Pavo" is called panes rellenos and is made with gallina india and is more like a traditional food that we cook for Christmas time but we can also eat it any time of the year, tortas is way different than panes rellenos o panes con pollo even the bread is different.

@@JourneywithJenandDrew there's a few same named things that are different from what you'd expect because of famous Mexican food If you're not there anymore it maybe doesn't matter but for example quesadilla in El Salvador is a sweet sesame cheese bread, empanada is a plantain cream dessert and pasteles are like meat empanadas

Tortas are spanish. They made french bread wider. Arab inspired them to add meat and sauce. Shawarma is flat bread with meat and sauce. They also inspired the taco and tortas. Bread, cured meats and cheese are European. Empanadas are Portuguese. Salvadorians call them pastelitos. Yuca if from Africa, same as coffee. And Peru invented the french fries. Because the patato is native to peru. French fries are a side dish like vegetable or a salad to them. Tomatoes, Red Hot Chillie peppers, Corn, squash, beans, pumpkins, berries, avocado's, dragon fruit, passion fruit are American. North, Central, south America these plants are native to the Americans.

Puebla Some historians claim that the torta was created in Puebla, in south-central Mexico, before the Mexican-American war of 1846-1848. Under those circumstances, people sometimes lived hand-to-mouth and the torta reflects that kind of culture: it's filling, cheap to make, and easy to carry around.
