One of our favourite walks in the Lake District, the views are so cool especially on a nice clear day

Nice video. I'm doing this tomorrow for the first time. I've done Snowdon and Skafell Pike amongst others, so I'm expecting this to be easy going, but I'm taking a friend who's never hiked before, so it should be a good starter for him.

Catbells is a great walk. It was blowing a mental gale when I was up there a couple of years ago. Happy birthday to you both! Cheers Andy.

Cracking part of the Lake District Andy (although poor to non existent phone signal South of the hotel you were at). Another quality and informative upload 👍
@BackpackingUK3 жыл бұрын
Even Keswick is bad for signal. Apparently it’s down to all the tourists using their phones.

We hiked Catbells in July. One of my mates wanted to do Blencathra but non of the guys were up for it. Catbells was challenging enough for me. ha ha. The views across Derwentwater on the way down were spectacular. Nice video

Thanks. Blencathra is on my list too!

Probably the most climbed peak in the Lake District, park up in Portinscale next time and have a bacon butty in the Chalet first… Great video 👍🏻

I showed Laura’s Granddad who spent 2 weeks in the Lake District every year for 40 years and he said the path has really eroded, it’s nothing like it was last time he went up there.

@@BackpackingUK He’s right, I only live 20 miles from there and I have noticed it getting much worse over the last 10 years…. 👍🏻

Great video Andy! One problem though… the mrs wants a spa break now 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Would you recommend that hotel and spa?
@BackpackingUK3 жыл бұрын
It’s a lot money but it’s a lovely hotel in a stunning location. The spa is amazing (£25pp for 2 hrs). There are two restaurants but the Mizu restaurant (pan Asian) is up there with the best food I’ve ever eaten! What a treat!

Hey man great video. Im staying in Keswick next week. She’s never been hiking before. Would you recommend Catbells for a first time hiker?

Yes, it’s a proper mini mountain. Fantastic views too 👌

How would you advise getting to the foot of Cat Bells?
@BackpackingUK2 жыл бұрын
Most people go from Keswick, that’s why it’s so popular.

Great vid! How long did it take to just do catbells?
@BackpackingUK3 жыл бұрын
It's quite a short climb, I think that's part of the reason why it's so popular. Our total hike was over 8 miles but I would say only half of that was actually ascending and descending.
@S.Hitchcock7 ай бұрын
I didnt realise catbells had scrambling. Looked very steep on the rocks near the top. On a scale of 1-10. 1 being for novices, how would you rate this climb?
@BackpackingUK7 ай бұрын
It’s only a little bit and if you don’t really need to use your hands. I’d say 3.
