Here is my Naturehike Cloud Up 2 tent review. This 2 person tent strikes the perfect balance between weight vs cost vs quality. For a budget tent, the quality is really good with 20D fabric and alloy poles and pegs. This is a great backpacking tent weighing just 1.5kg. Naturehike tents state weight 1.4kg 'without accessories'.

The naturehike cloud up 2 tent is a tunnel tent design with one entrance and one vestibule where your backpack can be stored. This two person tent measures 125cm wide and 210cm deep with a head height of 105cm.
This 2 person backpacking tent is an inner pitch first. However, this camping tent is so easy to pitch you can erect the tent very quickly in the rain.
Naturehike say this is a 4 season tent. That's probably going a bit far for the UK climate and weather. However, it does have a lot of solid mesh and this backpacking tent has low fly edges too. This means you can sleep without a chilly breeze and the tent won't get as cold as 3 season tents with a lot of see-through mesh and big gaps from fly to floor.
For budget tents I genuinely rate Naturehike tents. My favourites are the Cloud Peak 2 and this tent for all-round greatness.

Brilliant tent, it was my first tent when I properly got into wild camping and used it many times. Just goes to show you don’t always have to spend crazy amounts to have great quality. This and the Cloud Peak 2 are superb value for money. Great video Andy. Would love to do a camp sometime.

Does the door on the vestibule have the option of opening the door from the top for ventilation when using the vestibule for cooking? Looking at the design, would be serious design flaw if didn't, as cannot see way to vent porch other than having to have the door fully open.

I did a lot of research when I was looking for a new tent. Although not a hiker or wild camper, I was looking for a good value, lightweight set up for my road trips in my little sportscar. Very small boot and I didn't want to be carrying 100kg in the boot while blasting around the backroads 😂 I think it was this detailed review that convinced me that the Cloud Up 2 was ideal for my needs. many Thanks

Just picked this up in forest green, I'm new to wild camping & very excited to take it out for an adventure! Got two nights in a semi-wild campsite lined up for May to put it through its paces before I venture out into the Welsh wilds. I'm going to be solo camping but I really wanted a tent I can keep all my gear inside, and the 2 just seems sturdier and a better choice overall for a very reasonable weight penalty. Thank you for the review, you gave me a lot of confidence in my purchase! I'm on a limited budget and was very concerned about being able to find a durable, lightweight shelter in my price range. Overjoyed with my choice!

How has your venture into solo wild camping been and did the cloud up 2 treat you well? I'm currently in a really similar situation to what you were when you wrote this. Just ordered the tent and am booked into a few different semi wild campsites to help me get a sense of solo camping.

Boys I've just paid £112 for the white 20d with the skirts. I can't believe I haven't seen anybody with it. All I did was buy some velcro and some seam seal and now my skirts tuck up inside if I don’t want them deployed. I can have the side facing the wind deployed and the other side open. No condensation, no wind. I've also swapped out the pegging dyneema cord for bungee, using the cord on the zips which makes them catch less, I added the side guys and one to the vent after seeing Trev from Summit or Nothing have his two rear poles get torn out in high wind. The extra guy kept it all in place. I'm also waiting for some toggles to turn up so that I can add them to the side of the inner to attach it to the fly, giving me a few extra inches each side. Once that's finished I'll put my video to show and tell. I can't belive they sell so cheap. My last one cost more and this one is the improved one... very strange. Maybe I just got lucky.

I had the CloudUp1 a short while ago and I found that the light weight came at a trade off. I tried to use it in winds of up to (guesstimate) 15mph and all it wanted to do was flap over and lay down. It's left a bitter taste in my mouth with them now and I doubt I'd get one again unless for calm weather.

Just bought this for the Laugaveger Trail in Iceland as my UL non-freestanding is just too expensive to risk with the wind when staking out is not ideal. Was looking at other tents 3x as expensive as this one initially but am really happy with my decision...the multiple guyout points and being freestanding sold me because wind in Iceland can be brutal and the ground isn't always conducive to getting tent stakes into the ground. Can't believe such a well-priced tent comes with proper aluminum poles and decent stakes...most expensive tents don't even come with good stakes. I went for the navy blue version with hopes of helping sleeping during the midnight sun

Hi Andy, awesome review, cheers mate. I'm always hunting and researching great budget backpacking tents, I then found the Helm 1, I absolutely love it, rather than get the Helm 2 as well I thought I'd try a different midrange brand, Naturehike being one of them. @@BackpackingUK I love the Helm 1, it was a tough choice between both and finally went for the 1. I love it for pack size and weight. To be honest, I researched a lot until I brought it. I wanted to try a 1 Man tent and looked at a ton of ''coffins'', this really stood out as a 1 Man tent with actual space! I'm still amazed at the design and space for a 1 Man tent, at my mid range budget I couldn't find anything better. I'm 5''8 same as you and my head is nowhere near the top. Its perfect.

Thank you for the great video. It looks like a stunning tent. My only observations are that I honestly dont think a "4-seasons" tent would have so much mesh on the inner.... maybe none at all beyond the vents. You simply cant control the air flow through the tent if you have open mesh. I have this cracking little budget tent that dominates most of the year.... but because the upper half of the inner has mesh like this... you haemorrhage heat. Plus every time a sidewards gust comes, it clips under the outer, through the mesh, and floods the tent with cold damp air. I think its a cracking tent, but I think a 4 season really needs a thermal barrier between the inner and outer.

Hello. I'm looking at Mongar and Cloud Up 2 models. I am looking for a lightweight tent that I will generally use in the spring months and carry with a bag. Which one would you recommend?
@BackpackingUK
@BackpackingUK 10 ай бұрын
The Mongar has a lot of see-through mesh so I’d say it’s more of a summer tent.

@@BackpackingUK The cloud up model can be used in other seasons and is a lighter tent. So, is there a serious area difference between them? There can be serious differences even in different colors of the same model. That's why I wanted to ask.

This tent isn’t that great in the wind. The additional guy points are a welcome addition but it’s still not going to be your first choice of tent for summit camps!

To be honest it’s a totally different tent. Much lighter, freestanding, more compact packed size but the downside is it’s smaller inside.

@@BackpackingUK I'm happy to go smaller as long as I can sit up in it, I'm the same height as you, but I want that sitting comfort, which is what's putting me off the likes of the starlite or the laser compact

Hi Andy I bought the Blackice 700 down sleeping bag on your recommendation. I was tempted to get the 1000 with a comfort rating of minus 15 I think it said, but that was 500g heavier so I thought I could buy a sleeping bag liner. Can you recommend any of those? I have one at the moment but I think I got it from Aldi years ago and it just feels like it's made out of pillow case material. Really thin. I've not received my sleeping bag yet, it's still on its way

The Cloud Up 2 is half the weight and pack size. It's also much easier to pitch. However, the Jackal is better for 4 season use and is roomier. If you're buying the Jackal for backpacking use you need a big bag!

@@BackpackingUK hmmm... choices, choices. The Cloud Up sounds perfect for backpacking/longer hikes as weight is so important, but on the flip side the jackal is more versatile of course. Is the vestibule on the jackal a lot better would you say? And thanks for replying!
