When it was storming all i could picture was Bill Murray as Carl in Caddyshack with the bishop in the thunderstorm saying "I don't think the heavy stuff is going to start for some time..." and yes, you did keep an a$$hole in suspense for the entire series. Well done, Sir!

Haha, it's a good scene! If only Bill Murray was out there fishing with me though! Thanks, it worked out good that the biggest fish didn't come until the last few days. Gave me something to build up to. Cheers!

I think a lot of people don't realize what five straight days of fishing can feel like. Fantastic looking weather. Great time to be standing on a river below a dam. 😜 That was a blimp wiper and I can't fathom a 20+ cat. Crazy series, dude.

I hear ya. The reason I didn't film much on the 7th day is because I was out of it. Getting up at 4am every day eventually caused me to start making mistakes, forgetting to turn on my cameras, losing my patience, losing my train of thought, etc. I was kind of glad when the river started flooding - it gave me an excuse to sleep in and recover. The pull from a 20+ flathead is crazy. Especially on lighter tackle. It's not really a fight but more just holding on and hoping he wears out. Thank you for watching!

You are definitely the flathead slayer. You know there are some serious monsters in t h at hole you haven't even hooked yet. Thanks for the great video ❤

Thanks, it definitely seems like there is a continuous flow of flatheads to that spot and for sure some of them are giant.

Loved the series! Some great flatheads again! That 10 pound wiper was nothing to scoff at either! I gotta make it down that way soon.

Thanks, I'm glad. Flatheads have really grown on me. I just started getting into them a few years ago and now I'm hooked. What a cool species! It would be fun to fish with you sometime and see you crank a big wiper or flathead!

Awesome video! I’ve been messing around with soft plastics for flatheads myself. I think I’ve been fishing in the bottom too slowly now. It’s nice to see some technique

You can stack the deck in your favor if you catch them during periods where they are super aggressive such as pre-spawn or when they are feeding heavy in the fall. In my situation I think there are a lot of them competing for space and resources up near the spillway so they feel they have to feed more aggressively. Good luck!

Total Flathead territory. My dad caught his biggest one there way back before DNR. A 40 lb. Using a 1 lb largemouth as bait lol

Any tips on telling the difference between a wiper and a white bass?
@BackroadsAngling3 ай бұрын
Ya, the only 100% way to tell is the tongue patch. 2 small patches on the back of the tongue for a wiper and only 1 for a white bass. Most people just look for straight lines to see if it's a white bass but this will lead you wrong sometimes. I caught a 4.5 lb wiper the other day with perfectly straight stripes. Thought I had a monster white bass but the tongue doesn't lie.
@jgs17033 ай бұрын
@BackroadsAngling nice thanks for the info! I think I could start to tell the difference but wasn't 100 percent sure. I will try that. I caught a bunch of what I think was white bass earlier today.

Keep track of the conditions and time of year, see why they are concentrated there, and you should be able to replicate it in the future. A lot of its luck, but timing is key

I was down there last Thursday when the water was up walked out to the big rock and stood on it lost 2 bigger fish i Assume they were flathead bc how they where moving and i couldn't for the life of me get them around the snags
@BackroadsAngling3 ай бұрын
It definitely could have been a flathead or a huge rough fish. A lot of those have moved in over there.
