If Mark hadn’t taken the crap from Vinnie that he did then there would be no Slaughter. Kudos to Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum for doing what they did. ❤😊
@joylane29604 ай бұрын
You do realize Strum is/was as shady and lacking in ethics, integrity, etc as much as Vinnie right? They were a perfect pair for years and that was part of the reason. Strum was amazing in all the jobs he performed so well in bands. But he also was very cutthroat and would do very dubious things to other musicians, like literally stealing music and then using it for his own purposes. Or applying "pressure" to guys to get what he wanted...> There are many things Strum did that made him great and also made him shady...>

And Slaughter is STILL playing, and outsold him in album sales by millions. Has Vinnie played a gig, or a tour since the Invasion? While he was a talented songwriter, and guitar player, even the greatest guitar players don’t overdo it. Eddie didn’t kill every song with a long, drawn out, finger tapping bore. He played to what the song needed, NOT what his ego wanted. I feel kinda sorry for Vinnie in a way, because he had all the right pieces to make it really big. Vinnie wasted his talents on KISS, but show boating in a band like KISS, not too smart on Vinnie's part. When it comes to Invasion... he let it all hang out on the guitar and left the rest of the band to basically back him up instead of the vocalists. Again, wasted his talents. If he had only learned to be a team member instead of a glory hound, maybe he'd still be doing something today. How KISS kept playing all those years after Vinnie, is a testament to working by a set of team rules. If you have a formula that makes a band successful, you don't alter it for one member of that band. I think that's why Vinnie didn't continue in music... he is a one man show and cannot get past that. As for Mark Slaughter, his solo band was very good. If fact better than VV Invasion. That band worked as a team and had success, and a couple of hits. I don't recall VV Invasion having any hit songs that got a ton of radio play like Fly to the Angels. I don't hate VV, I pity him... but if I had his talents, I would have made better use of them and left my ego in the dust. A lot can be said for humility.

Slaughter ( the band ) was cool, but was more into listening to VVI, and L.A. Guns. They were always garbage, silly rabbit. Slaughter's voice has always been a mixed bag. An acquired taste. His vocals on the second VVI album were indeed very poor. Annoying to say the least. And they are nothing in comparison to the far better vocals of Rob Fleischmann (and also FAR better songs) from the legendary first VVI album...> To this day, Vinnie hates Slaughter's existence in VVI and that second album of radio friendly sellout tripe he was forced to write and put out to appease his record label/manager at the time. But funny, Slaughter's vocals at other points in time were better. Listen to his work on Xcursion (earliest band) or his work from '89 on in Slaughter. So for some reason, his voice just wasn't compatible with the VVI band and their material...> Or there's just more to the story that won't ever come out. Vinnie tried to find others besides Fleischman, he really did. That's why there is a full record of demos out there with guys like Goran Edman singing on them trying to desperately give Vinnie that voice he was always agonizing over...>
