The idea is simple and straight forward. The clarity and purity of water depends upon how clean is the water in the well. Assuming that the water is fine, then it is stored more safely in a steel tank compared with a plastic tank. The majority of pharamceutical companies and the Serum lab in Pune use steel tanks for storing the water for their factories.The problem in Kerala is that most of the well water is contaminated. How many people use water filters/purifiers before it reaches the water tank? How many people have checked the quality of their well water in the lab, any time in their life time?

Lightning seems to be an irrelevant parameter here. Roof sheets, antennas, steel doors, window grills, cars, gas cylinders kept outside etc. are all metallic and susceptible to lightning. Why should we worry about water tanks more than any of these?

What I understand from TIARA's brochure which you presented is, they assume that the water is already filtered. No tank can filter water without specific water filtration system. Though in our kerala most people do not use any specific filtration system, it is a standard practice to get ground water tested (or openwel water) and install water filtration system (specific to the water quality after testing).. And about lighting, It is prone to lightning as much as the building/any structure mounted on top of the building, is prone to lightning. Yes, it is true that SS316 (or other higher grade SS) better than SS304 but 304 is graded as food grade and does not corode that easily. But SS316 is much costly than SS304 and is not economically feasible. About mirror finish, what I understand is that finish in the inner surface of the tank is more important. Matt finish has more rough surface which is prone to fungal growth and more adhesion of particulates to the surface. A mirror finish will help the inner surface to stay cleaner in comparison to matt finish due to higher surface finish. So more than aesthetic value, mirror finish has its imortance.

About Lightning.. most concerns and myths regading lightning strike are foolish and silly.. Like you said lightning is unpredictable, the reason is Lightning is a high voltage electrical arc so it always tries to find the least resistive path to release/transfer the high potential and it doesn't mean it will find the shortest length. and those who has seen a lightning arc shape knows it can bend and reroute instantly when it finds a better path all in a fraction of second. you cannot prevent a lightning stike but you can try to trap and direct the lightning arc to ground(earth) by adding a lightning arrester on the house or what ever you are trying to protect it from. it's basically a high gauge copper wire and rod enough to handle high ampere lightning arc that fixed on the roof and grounded deep into earth (seperate from electrical wiring ground). So if a lightning happens near, it will find the arrester to be the least resistive path and transfer that energy to ground. and always add lightning protection devices at the at the entry of electicity circuit to avoid or reduce lightning spikes coming from electric lines :) .. and No, lightning arrester will not attract a lightning unnecessarily out of the blue. it just acts as a potential direct short circuit path to ground intead of your house when a lightning happens over your house that's all. So in a nutshell, having a steel/metal water tank or metal structure doesn't mean it will or will not attract lightning, but you can "reduce" the impact from lightning if you ground the tank/structure (if you don't have a dedicated lighning arrester installed) so that it doesn't transfer he energy to building directly.. remember even small single story houses with clay tiles are sometimes struck and destroyed by lightning even when there are other taller conductive structures and trees nearby :).. coming to main topic of this video, no matter which type water tank you use, always check the source water quality and add a suitable inline water filter directly from tank . a low maintainance sediment filter atleast . It will be better for our health and also the expensive plumping accesories and appliances . :) Sorry for the long comment :)

after all you did not mentioned the advantages of Plastic Tanks. Only you save few bucks, and in other hand you have a free "cleaner" for life time to maintain that plastic tank. While comparing a Tank you should not bring water filtration in between because purpose of water filtration and storage is entirely different. Even using 316 grade steel we have to provide water filtering system depending our water quality. in between of these studies, you did not pay any attention what you got "SUPREME PLASTIC TANK" and blindly accepted.!!!! then why all these gimmicks?. there is no water tank available with self filtering ability in the word, whether it is in plastic, steel or any other material. The prime point of your study should be focused on "health hazardous" of the storage we use, and off-course STEEL is far better than PLASTIC.

We are not against steel water tanks.. ( already mentioned it in the video). Steel tank is not serving our purpose, that's all.. Meanwhile, we went for selzer water tanks(HDPE tanks) , we have posted 2 videos showing the reasons too!
