Well done video. Oddly I could not get the iCloud server to connect when unpairing my s0 until I switched off WiFi. I re-enabled it after that step. The pairing process is so slow. I heard that it’s because it’s using Bluetooth technology for the sync and not WiFi.

G’day and thanks for the video. It nicely explained what I needed to do to unpair my Series 0 Watch and restore (save my settings and setup) so that I could pair with a new Series 5 Watch.

If the backup restore isn't working it's because the new watch has an older version of software to the backup. Setup the new watch as a new watch, update the software and then unpair it again. Delete the backup of the "new watch" and then restore the old watch backup as your software version should match.

Thank you for your video. Really help a lot to transfer the data from old AW to new AW. Got hiccup when pairing new AW (have to do manually instead) and need to updated AW OS first. Worried if my Health and Fitness data lost after unpairing old AW and pairing new AW. Now I still can view and track old Fitness record from my new AW :)

Is this a necessary step to do? I'm moving from a Series 2 to a Series 4, isn't my Apple Watch being backed up with iCloud? When a new version of iOS comes out I just start fresh and just get the Apps I need from my Purchase History that way I have a clean slate, I do the same with Mac OS as well.

ObiWanJabronE it is but I always like to do just incase the back up is a couple of days old. But tbh it is not that important on watch compared to phone.

Others have reported it still works. Also there is no harm in doing it, so you have nothing to loose.
