I can't even express how incredible this video is, I want to hug you right now. Concise, right to the point, it takes just the right time for the vital explanations, and even went to the lenghts of demostrating the recuperation process. Simply a masterclass on how to make tutorials.

Thank you Rahul. I've viewed a few other Macrium Reflect videos but I think yours was right to the point! You enlarged the areas you were clicking so I could actually read from the screen. Your video will definitely be my "go to" video on how to use this product. Again, thank you!

Me too. Even the Macrium video fails to explain that one will need TWO backup drives to make a complete restoration possible - in it's simples form. Your video answered my question with minutes. Thank you!

Good straightforward video. What would happen if you created your image but your original HP laptop was totally destroyed and you decided to buy a DELL laptop with a larger hard drive? Could you restore the image from your HP laptop with its 500 gig had drive to the new DELL laptop with a 1 T hard drive?

Very clear, I like your approach. I had a backed up external drive G: which went corrupted and I wanted to just view it on the Macrium copy to see if I really had a full and updated copy of the G: drive. Suddenly it tried to take me through some obscure expansion of the data, in a process filled with jargon that I didn't understand, and it did not explain what the basic scheme was. I guessed that I had to expand from the mrimg file into some new set of files (a new copy of G: ?) so I tried to let it do that but it was all vague and I didn't know why I was doing it. What is needed is a narrative description of the basic idea, not a how to. Any user will eventually piece together a picture of what the basic idea is but it's usually a painful process. Only then will the "how to" make perfect sense. Your video was wonderful, but it does not cover other restore operations. I will search for another one you may have made.

Awesome tutorial. Question My computer has two drives, a "C" (SSD) and a "D (HHD). Will I be able to back these both up at the same time onto an external drive?
@TheCocoaDaddy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for posting this! I went through this process last night and found the USB media creation took more than 20 minutes and I ultimately had to terminate the process. In the video, you stated the USB recovery media took 'several minutes' to complete, but do you remember how long it actually took? I'm trying to get a sense of how long to wait, since I won't be able to let it run indefinitely. Thanks in advance!

Great video, easy to understand. Question: After creating your first snapshot, can you come back in a week or two and create a second snapshot, so you have two options to choose from in restoring your C: drive? Or better yet, can you just leave your external drive plugged in and schedule Macrium Reflect to do a snapshot every month? Thanks.
@richpate94363 жыл бұрын
I can now answer my own question. Macrium allows you to schedule your backups. It's one of the icons in the toolbar. Very easy, versatile and reliable.
@MrDanielh34102 жыл бұрын
Yes! But remember to always eject the drive before shutting down PC - Unless an auto restart happens - e.g. (after a backup) (I use software called USB Safely Remove) I previously asked Microsoft if it should be okay to plug back in before restarting and they said yes - but noticed that if you leave it physically plugged in when restarting there are issues - like drive not recognised

I've been a very happy Macrium Reflect user for years but recently had a the following issue : RESTORING FROM THE BOOT USB RESCUE DISK COULD NOT DETECT THE PRIMARY C: DRIVE MAKING IT USELESS. I turned my laptop upside down trying to resolve this (deleting/recreating partition; reinstall of Windows 11; nothing worked ! The problem was not with Macrium, but with Acer/Intel. There is a driver provided on the Intel site called "RST Raid driver". Issue solved !

Thanks for showing us how to do this. Damned Windows Update screwed up my PC. Now, my MS Office 2010 Word & Excel won't load up, so I'm been wanting to move to new machine. Already have it setup, but I just have been poking around on moving to new hardware. Because I wanted to find a good way to do backups. I was using Acronis True Image, but it is starting to suck and they have a yearly / monthly fee to keep using it. So, I'm moving to something better that's not broken like Acronis True Image. Used to be top notch, but it is not what it used to be. And, slow as anything now.

Is there a way or a software that just copies the folder and files in the original source structure so when i connect the "destination" hard disk to another pc i can read those folder and files normally, without me needing the backup software to read or restore those files? I can not find one. I tried many and they all, after the backup, create ONE SINGLE FILE that can only be read from the software that created it. And if i connect that external HD to another pc, I can not read those copied files coz the backup software is not installed in that second pc.
@almedogjurgji2 жыл бұрын
Instead of overwritting the image on the infected hard drive where windows is showing problems (during the restore process), would be better maybe to format the hard drive first deleting all partitions and after that restore the image on it? Does creating the image of your c drive on an external hard, require the format of the external one at first?

Can all of this be done on a single 64gb flash drive for a new PC with nothing installed aside from what came on it? Provided there is sufficient space on the flash drive, that is. Mostly looking to use it as a true factory reset to return my PC to its "fresh out of the box condition" if anything catastrophic happens or if I ever sell it. Or does the rescue drive have to be seperate from the drive with the system image? Sorry if that's a dumb question. New PC owner lol

Please suggest. :)

Hello, Navdeep, You can "Clone" your entire hard disk to an identical or similar hard drive (If you can spare one), you can avoid the entire process of re installing the Window OS(or any other) and the pre installed software . To the extent that just swapping the had drive will put you back in business instantly. I have cloned my laptop 2.5" SATA hard drive to 2.5" SSD using Macrium Reflect . In my desk top, the story is different. 120 GB SSD was cloned to 256 GB SSD and started using it right away. Hope you find a suitable solution with this input.

Their support structures suck. No installation help available till next day: -boo hoo... Will have to get the money back & return to Acronis for a faster recovery solution.
