I would stain the obelisk a rich, dark brown, rather than painting it. Paint never holds up to our winters and will need more maintenance than stain. Looks awesome, Michelle! ❤

Hi Michelle!!! Yes my thought for oblisk is to use stain, I stained my picket fence black and it really ties in the black mulch, OR a cherry colored stain ❤I love your rock pathway, I'm struggling to make pathways in my yard. I love everything you've done here!! Ty for sharing, Linda in Michigan Z6A

Hi Michelle, The re-do looks great! I vote Yes on painting the obelisk. A steel blue/green gray that would complement the weeping blue spruce is my first choice. Another option is to extend on a color from the brick on your house with a red tone. Can’t wait to see what you decide to do!! Thank you for creating great videos! 😊

I think to paint the obelisk black to allow the structure to giver the height but not to take away from the beautiful plants. Plus I believe I saw black path and the two areas will bring the areas together. Thank you for everything you do. You are so inspiring. ❤

Love the use of pots to add that bit of color especially if there is not enough room. Looks like the consensus is out to paint obelisk black. Nice of the guys to help out. Looks Great!

Black! I painted mine black after first painting it white, but the white stood out like a sore thumb, now it shows the honeysuckle blooms more and matches the other wire structures I have in the garden. Also, it will coordinate with your mulch path👍 Great video, you are such a great teacher, and I so appreciate learning so much in each video ❤️ Brenda🇨🇦

I keep measurements marked on my favorite shovels all the time. It is a HUGE time saver. I can just plant away when adding new plants or like you did knowing how large a space needed for transplanting. Such a great tip. I also have done a lot of moving here in southern Iowa cooler than normal August. Happy planting ... A she shed ... lucky lady. 🎉

Michelle, I think everything is coming along nicely and is going to look beautiful! The Sheshed is going to be fun can't wait to watch the progress. I took advantage of this weather last weekend removed a lot of daylillies and planted an Ivory halo dogwood and some hakonechloa grass and moved some hostas as well 😊 I think the obelisk would look good painted white or black but definitely looks good back in the garden.

I just love you, Michelle. I have watched 3 videos in a row and laughed out loud in every one of them. Also love that nonstandard unit of measurement, aka shovel. You’ve gotten me on an allium kick, my friend. I have 6 millennium in and today our Walmart had serendipity for $2. They are very pot bound. I’m going to water and then take a shovel and split them in half. I also got some Wizard of Ahhs for $2 each. This garden will be amazing next year.

The digging, rearranging, adding new plants, etc., is exactly what I am doing right now with my pollinator garden. WOW Michelle that looks AWESOME!! Love the new pathway. I love that you are keeping the obelisk, I think staining/painting it black unless you want a little more winter interest, 🤔 then I would pick a steel blue, unless that would take away from your Weeping Blue Spruce. I love how you give so much detail, you teach me a lot and I really appreciate it. I am excited about the she shed 😁 Everything looks BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing this with us. P.S. I think you have plenty of color with your gorgeous plants, so I would either stain the obelisk, or paint it a muted natural color. I agree it looks great in the garden…honestly I’d wait and think about it as the seasons change along with your colors and decide later because it looks great as it is. You are right natural stones are not great as border to the garden bed but that’s what I have, and I love the look when the weeds aren’t growing up the sides.

I like the obelisk too. I stained mine. Mine is closer to my house, so I chose a stain color that worked well with my brick. I planted two Guernsey Cream Clematis to climb it. It's a medium reddish-brown color and it looks great. I guess it depends on whether you want to use it for a pop of color or if you prefer it to look natural wood tone like the plants and trees that are surrounding it.
