Thx for the vid! Here in Hawai’i island we have only three grafted jackfruits in circulation and they are hard to get: Golden nugget, Black Gold, and Ziman Pink. All are not good selections for the area, especially the ziman. I have my own garden with grafted ‘orange crush’ x 2, grafted ‘Borneo Red’ x 2, grafted ‘Jackabella’ which is a Florida selection, and I have three different grafted chempedak x jackfruit. I have seedlings of Ns-1, Borneo Red, and from a Malaysian CHeena. I have a chemp x Jack trying to fruit but no pollination until the others catch up. It’s such an amazing hobby.

I have more than a dozens jackfruit tree in my yard (Longwood fl) some are 3yrs old and some are younger and yet no male fruit yet! Very little rain and tab water is not so great. I'm so glad to see someone like this tree and plant plenty of it. You have much more room in your land to put down more varieties, let load it up, then someday you can have a plantation of jackfruit for us to tour. Thanks for sharing

Nice video, I have a 20' seed grown Jackfruit tree here in Lakeland. It will be 3 years old in March. Had lots of male flowers this past spring. If I can get it through another winter I think I should see female flowers and fruit next year. I have an overhead shower setup for freeze protection. Didn't have to use it last year and hope I won't need it this year.

Regarding your Excalibur Red tree, I also purchased a "Excalibur Red" tree which was sold to me as a "grafted" tree. Well, the graft join was not visible, but I was excited to be able to get one and bought it anyways. After 7 years and a hurricane knockdown in between, it produced great fruit the first crop. Not red, but sort of a deep orange, crispy fruit. Advantages: Excellent taste and texture (more on this at the end.) very easy to peel, pods pull apart very easily, you could peel an entire fruit in 15 mins as it has very little latex. A very large percentage of the rag is edible, even better than the pods. Fairly productive. Now the bad part. Second crop was pretty bad tasting. Waiting to see what will happen this year, they will be ready in just a few weeks.

Thanks for this useful video. I’ve grown 3 jackfruit plants from seeds and they look healthy. I’m going to keep them in large pots in my conservatory sun room. Will they survive in pots and do they need heavy watering? What soil type is best for them to fruit please? Sorry about asking so many questions as there aren’t many videos on Jackfruits! Strange as I think they are so tasty! Thanks a lot and best wishes.

How did your mangoes do this year? I’ve got several young mango trees planted in the last two years many just last year and about three this year. Didn’t have fruit on them but they sure did grow. I probably gave them too much fertilizer. Hoping for a good season in 2020.

Our coconut cream produced the best. A few big producers from the year before didn’t produce at all this year (Peach Cobbler and SweetTart). We had a decent amount of Lemon Zest, Valencia Pride, and Cogshall this past summer. We also tasted our first Cotton Candy from our tree.
@lcjohn51
@lcjohn51 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I’ve been watching your videos some of them several times your taste test got me interested in growing some mangoes. I kind of went crazy. I started out with one thinking that’s all I was going to have but I think I have 12 trees, three of which I grew from seed‘s and grafted them all with the varieties like fruit punch,coconut cream, PPK and made two of them Franken trees with three varieties on each one. I wish I had more space. I also planted 4 avocado trees from seeds and grafted them with Florida Hass. I never thought I could do all the grafting I did and be so successful at it. My neighbors don’t understand why I am grafting my seedlings. When I explain to them it will take years and years for them to mature enough to produce fruit and by grafting them they can have fruit in just a couple of years. They just turn their heads like a little puppy dog and all I hear is crickets. I also have piña colada, Pickering, Floragon, orange sherbet ,ice cream malika and peach cobbler and I know I missed one. Good luck in 2020 I hope your season is fruitful!
