LOve the babbling brook sound and look...I have two Morrocan style fountains in my Guatemalan tropical garden one huge wall with arch and painted tiles the other a star shaped traditional Spanish colonial tiled basin with 4 ft tourquoise bubbler fountain jar. I have shallow areas in my garden too and have used many of the same plants you have.Because my garden is smallish and mostly large center courtyard bricked I intensively planted tropical in diff heights in layers to our walls around our property...the walls are also covered with blooming tropical vines, bougainvillea, thunbnergia which attracts hummingbirds to feed all day. AN older cement fountain I moved to one of those beds and have planted ivy in the top bowls and geraniums in the bottom...my garden is intensely flower filled year round due to the climate.

Like your landscape.. Try putting down Sand on the Grass I had a similar problem and it work... I’m in Texas and just got a new Neighboor that is always walking next to my fence picking his head into my yard! So I cover the fence with a tarp but Now they put a 12ft Trampling so they can keep looking in.. I bought a Leyland Cypress and thinking about building like a half Pergola across the Fence but cover the back part of it and put in close to the fence and then plant some tropical plants I have bird of paradise, olive tree, honey suckle some Elephants ears now growing everywhere.. I need to block his view so I can enjoy my morning coffee and my privacy!!! 😄

I Gave up on my narrow grass pathways because of the maintenance issues, cutting, controlling where the cuttings went, blowing the debris etc,. so we adapted astro turf with cut lowered edging effects where the mulch beds start and it's quite stunning. We even spread multi colored glitter over the turf to have that added night lighting effect of different colored glistening off of the ground.

Love your artistic plant selection. Here in Hawaii we have very loud coqui frogs, which requires spraying with citric acid. Do you have similar problems or any solutions to eekp out pests?
@TrueGardener2 жыл бұрын
Hello Elaine, no that’s one thing we don’t have. We get carried off by mosquitoes and plants can get the typical pests aphids and spider mites I use Up-Star Gold for all the above. Mix it with water and battery sprayer and hit the whole yard in 15 min. Does the trick.

Beautiful! Great ideas. I've started planting around our pool deck, BUT there is so much sun.
@TrueGardener4 жыл бұрын
Brandy Lee, ugh I know the sun is a tough work around. Not many things love direct sunlight so if there’s room start with a canopy tree or a grouping of dwarf palms and plan to plant under them as they grow. This will give the new plants some protection as they establish. Best of luck to you!

@tsant65915 жыл бұрын
True. Over the years I've discovered what's attractive and does well and also fits with the Florida theme, from others. The big stores sell commercial crap that doesn't thrive. I guess they want us coming back.

Excellent post. There are hundreds of croton varieties but only a few are available. I have found that they get better color in the full sun, but they can thrive with a little shade. I have seven different crotons so far. You should try Scheffleras. I have four different species including elegantissima, arboricola, alpine jr. and a variegated elegantissima. I am also surprised you don't have ficus.

Super nice! I thought i saw a Tiare plant close to the red ginger close to the patio. wast that a tiare? I was hoping to see you would have some plumerias popping close to the deck. I guess its a matter of taste tho. All in all you did a great job!
@TrueGardener6 жыл бұрын
Mizraim not sure what a Tiare plant is although I agree on the plumerias I have planted several in hopes they will outlast the squirrel however as soon as they produce the slightest bloom its gone. Its a shame because that is one tree grouping I could see over using :) Thanks for the kind words.
@mizraimyehuda8496 жыл бұрын
Construction Landscape, LLC so the taste is the Polynesian gardenia. It’s used in coconut oil to make manoi. It a very strong smeller like the plumerias. I don’t have enough kind words for how awesome ur garden looks. It reminds of being back in the Caribbean.
