Nothing better than a trusty straight 6 with a fresh rebuilt 1 barrel. It doesn’t get any simpler. The Rochester seems a little more robust than the carters I’m used to dealing with.

Really unique piece. See a lot of military trucks, but not a lot built by Studebaker with that "chubby" cab. Love the look!

Hey Bud! I don't know if I'm the only one, but at some point, I'd like a bio video about you... You look so young, but you talk like you've been collecting these vehicles for a good while, plus you seem to have a lot of experience and knowledge, so my mind is boggled! What path led you to this point? I really enjoy your videos and can't believe youtube keeps pushing garbage videos instead of your stuff!!!

BYA, I was 3 when your Studebaker hit the highway! Great to see it still alive to run and drive at 79! Hey great job on the carb! That engine sounds pretty sweet and is smooth enough to balance a nickel! Hercules is still a hero thanks to your skills! Congrats!

Already snowed down in the valley but Is melted away the same day, seeing what's up in fairbanks area soon to be down here, keep up with the old military trucks That's your own unique show. When I was a teenager. In the 90's in wasilla and I tried to get a 4x4 dodge military for 2 thousand it was in perfect shape dad wouldn't let me have it, Said it was a gas hog. Two years later I got a lifted 76 ford 4 speed 205 dana 44 in front rear 9" Had friends that hated fords and some that loved them 50/50 Sold a couple years later, I was basically Homeless in 96. I wish I could get the truck back.I haven't let it go. In memory. I'm 47 and I've had some awesome vehicles through my life. That I wish I could get!

Cool ! Love the old Hercules engines. Ran one lots. Had an old Sicard ( built in Quebec) snowblower. Right hand drive, military truck axles and wheels, 4x4. Truck with big blower on the front. Truck had a slant 6 which basically ran at idle while in bull low gear blowing snow while the rear mounted flathead Hercules was cranked up to run the blower. Snorty ! Love the sound of those. Being at the airport, we ran it on 100LL avgas and it drank it running a big double auger blower. Cool rig. Downside, vaccuum wipers and heater should have been run off the high revving Hercules. Had to keep wiping the windshield clean constantly.

Nice fixup! I really need to sit down and rebuild the carbs for the Clarktor-6 tug and M37...have the carb kits in hand, haven't had time. That inlet filter is sintered metal -- they put metal particles into a mold and compress them, then they're fused either by the heat of compression or with external heat. Probably external heat given the large pores. Same way that Oilite bronze bushings are made, but larger pores. You can still buy cup filters like that, but I don't know if the exact size is still available.

Fun to see carb rebuilds. I've always been afraid to tackle on. I do have an old Suzuki 2-stroke lawn mower that starts hard. Maybe I'll pull the carb and re-build it on the wife's kitchen table - good winter project. Maybe... That Studebaker is a cool old truck. What are you going to do with it? It would make a great plow truck - would probably need a windshield! LOL Good video. Thanks.

She's a cool old truck. Just needs a couple pieces of glass, at least a windshield... That was probably one of the dirtiest carburetors I've ever seen before but you got her fixed up and she's runnin good now. I couldn't tell for sure but it looks like a couple of your tire chains have broken cross links. Maybe it was just the tails flopping around.
