As someone who is more a collector than an investor in metal I struggle with the balance of security vs enjoying my hobby. I think you take as many reasonable precautions as you can, mainly don’t over share, have levels of home security etc. A decoy safe is a good option, tell those you share it with who are trusted to be carful what they say around others etc. But also where is the fun if you can’t show off your collection to some close people, or be able to enjoy it from time to time yourself at home. It is a balance like anything, nice watches, nice cars, heck people used to get robbed for their expensive shoes. Everything has risk reward and you have to find your balance of that. You also need to enjoy your hobbies a bit too. At least that is how I approach it for me.

I know of someone who has a nice big safe fairly in the open. I once asked him about it. He carefully opened it in front of me. Showing me the propane bottles that are attached on hangers all over the inside of the safe .😮

There's alot of people paranoid about even showing their serial numbers of their silver and gold for fear of some one useing numbers to make fake bars .so it was interesting to see you reading it

If you have Gold and Silver at Home , don't tell anyone that you stack, not even your friends as they could tell someone by accident. Keep it well hidden and out of sight, more so if you have someone in your house that you don't know, like a tradesman.

Nice one BYB. In the village I live in, the general stores come Post Office have a deal with one of the courier firms - Evri, I think - whereby customers can collect and deliver their parcels from/to the shop, rather than have courier drivers come to their homes. I assume the service is nationwide, but I don't know what it's called. Even so, it might be worth stackers/collectors watching this to enquire if such a service is available at their local independent shop or Post Office.

Security wise, don't sell coins from your door, I'm always amazed people advertise X amount of gold for sale on Facebook marketplace 🤷🏻‍♂️

Does colouring the silver coins affect the silver content. Would someone have to remove it if it was ever to be melted down?

I buy 99.9% of stuff from my dealer for many reasons. I will buy tiny gold and take a chance but I really study the person iam buying buy .and there are some good relationships on you tube I've made over the years of people I trust a 100 percent

I’m new to purchasing, I’ve found the royal mint and chards have been a great introduction for me. In both I’ve never had an issue, I’ve taken precautions to protect my items and avoid telling anyone except my family who all are aware of saying. I find the advice from yourself and others have helped me I’m past couple months

Chards are good, the Royal Mint are rip off merchants, dont buy from them they are WAY too expensive. Check out Atkinsons (much better dealer than chards on prices).

Sounds like that guy with the safe just though big safe meant security. Not all are built the same, you gotta do your research . You also can't be lazy, no way I wouldn't bolt that and hide it somehow. Those big safes can be hidden, it just takes effort and that guy seemed lazy.

Couple of tips. Don't store at home, if you do make it bloody inconspicuous. Don't have a youtube channel. Buy gold and platinum over silver, because it's easier to hide. That 2oz series two coloured dragon is lush.
