Brilliant, as usual. Have you compared the imprint of this brand of nylon ribbon to one made of silk? I was so " impressed" with the result I've gotten from silk that I replaced all of my nylon ribbons.

Baco has sold me silk as well as cotton ribbon. Both are wonderful. The cotton has a lot of character, looks like some wartime era type, but the silk is just OUT of this world. Once you have a silk ribbon, you’ll never want to go back to nylon!!

Baco ribbon is the best! Be sure to try their silk ribbon. Once you try silk, you’ll never want to go back to nylon! It’s out of this world! They also have sold me cotton, which has a lot of character.

Ordered some ribbon from Baco today. Thanks for the info and video! Since I have one typewriter and am new to this I ordered a few pre-filled spools of red/black. Can't wait to get my Royal Speed King cleaned up, oiled and ready for typing!

This is very timely Joe. Just a few days ago I was contemplating whether or not I'm at the point where I should order some bulk ribbon. I actually had Baco's contact info pulled up in another browser window on my laptop when I found the notification of JVC's TVS no. 306 awaiting me when checking in on KZbin. I am interpreting this as the typing stars being in alignment. It only makes sense that I give Baco a call later this week. Well done sir.

Thank you for this video, Joe, I will order soon from them. I got an email today from them with this information: reels of 1/2" black or black & red NYLON 330 yds or 660 yds. They have reels of blue, green, or purple - 660 yds and they accept all credit cards and PayPal. 🌻

Joe, a little trivia, plastic v metal spools. Dimension wise there is o difference,, fabric fixing wise, metal must be by hook or clip, plastic by ball shooting which can be automatic. Price wise , plastic is very much cheaper to produce . Production time for finished spooled ribbons is very much faster using plastic spools.

Great video! I've been wanting to order from Baco since I heard about them on the Redit typewriter page, but their lack of a website made me wonder if they were still in business or not. It seems like the best ribbon option for your money, especially if you have a range of spool sizes in your collection like I do. Thanks!

Thanks, great video. I am new to typewriters and just bought one likes yours in blue. I have no clue as to ribbons so I just bought the first one that looked good on Amazon. Do you have a video on the different types of ribbons? I see Cotton, Nylon, and Silk mentioned. What makes one ribbon's material superior to another: Is it that it lasts longer, or gives a nicer impression? Does it matter what paper you use?

Nylon lasts the longest but often isn't as darkly inked. Cotton has the darkest imprint but wears out the fastest (the cloth fibers wear out), and it can also cause the loops in small type to fill in with gunk, necessitating the type slugs be cleaned more regularly. Silk seems to be darker than nylon but wears better than cotton. For the better nylon ribbons I like to buy the bulk reels from Baco Ribbon (do Google search, you have to call them on the phone to order), and spool them onto my own reels.

Great solution for supplying multiple typewriters put to regular personal use. I tried the tip suggested in a video, from a forgotten source, to re-ink ribbons from a bottle of stamp pad ink. Tried another tip to spray spent ribbon with wd40 as a revival method. Both yielded "another fine mess", Laurel and Hardy grade. Great to just buy quality on a bulk reel at $2+ per cut section like this. Thanks for the link

I have so many old ribbons in use, I have been thinking of getting a spool like this. I am looking into a black and blue, because I don't use the red side much at all and it's a bit of a waste for me. I like the design of your ribbon holder. If you put a thick sheet of paper or card under the ribbon, you might never have to wash your holder. Daniel

@@Wilhelm-Von-Hohenzollern On the carriage behind the platen roller, adjacent to the paper support. There are two margin settings, one for the left margin and one for the right. Press them down and slide them to adjust.

Baco Ribbon & Supply sells bulk reels of silk. I don't know of any ribbon supplier in Europe, however.
