I’ve lived in Bacolod for 12 years and it suits me perfectly. Big enough for decent amenities, but not ruined like many of the bigger cities. I guess it all boils down to what kind of place you prefer - for younger guys wanting the nightlife…Bacolod may not be for you, but most foreigners that want this smaller city life, then Bacolod is for you. I have to say that those condos are overpriced for what you get for the money….granted - with bills included it is not a bad deal, but the cramped space could drive you crazy if you are a bit of a homebird. Ive been to Iloilo and Dumaguete plenty of times and Bacolod compares favorably with both those places. Iloilo is becoming very modern, but for me it has no soul and Dumaguete is a nice place to visit, but living there is another thing. Each to their own, but on balance - Bacolod wins in all areas…no place has everything that you want but Bacolod ticks more boxes than most.

I always wondered why the rental prices are higher in Philippines than other places like Thailand and Vietnam with better economy and better infrastructure? Thailand gets 28 Million Tourists per year vs 5.4 Million in Philippines, yet they don't raise their prices. They also have much better quality hotels for lower prices. I think in Thailand you can rent a spacious and good quality one or two bedroom apartment for 250-350.

You can do much better in Taguig / BGC for that amount of money. Many of these condo owners are delusional to think that you can take a Studio, add a cheap portion and call it a One Bedroom. All that does is make a livable studio into something that is cramped, cluttered and claustrophobic. Any time you have to climb across the bed to get to the far side because you can't walk around it, it's too small.

Here in the U.S. I can get an apartment with two bedroom that are big enough to actually put furniture in! Both bedrooms will have walk in closets. Air conditioned throughout the apartment. A bathroom with a bathtub in it, not just a shower. Another half bath for guest. A kitchen with a stove and dishwasher. A space for a washer and dry or you could use the a washer and dry that is in another building and used that space for storage. A balcony with outside storage. The grounds will have a swimming pool, a playground for the kids and a club house. Rent goes for $925. The place I use to live in also had a Volleyball court and a few tennis courts.

This 8 min video literally demonstrates more benefits than what I had in Cebu IT park in a month. First of all it looks clean, it has a park, and it has sidewalks. I could not find any of these in Cebu. Instead, I found tons of traffic jam right at my fingertips. Wondering what makes Cebu attractive to foreigners. @@kokalti that’s true, but do they give you an English speaking community which welcomes you with open arms? Do they give you a huge supply of wonderful women willing to date you even if you’re 20-30 years older?

If there are sidewalks they are commandeered by stores, vendors,or parkers.
@kokalti3 күн бұрын
@@manchesterr85 Hahaha Bring down the delusions. You're in the Philippines and you still think that? Listen when they talk amongst themselves. They never talk in English. Most of them don't practice their english. You will never have a deep conversation with most of them because their English is very basic. Second, "open arms"? More like an arm out for a hand out. They don't give a crap about you. You are a walking atm to them. Stop being a child, nobody out there "welcomes you with open arms", most of those smiles are fake. And finally, "women willing to date you even if you’re 20-30 years older" again comes down to money. If one does date you with that age gap then I hope you enjoy supporting her, her parents, all her siblings, and neighbors. Maybe even long lost cousins, and their dog.

Most people hang their clothes on the balcony. Some condos you can add a dryer to the unit if the building /unit is set up for it. I've used combo washer/dryers in the Philippines and they are painfully slow. Electricity is expensive so that's not a good option.
