Thanks for your invaluable public service, AB. I do have a couple of terms you may find useful when your being threatened with arrest - "spurious accusations" when they play the Terrorism Act card and the "prevailing culture" when it comes to to the rotten leadership in many of the institutions you visit. I hope you don't mind my saying. I'm only saying this because I've watched every one of your videos in the past three weeks or so and think such terms could be useful. I looked into whether this is legal.* *WOOD v DPPis case law that specifically states an officer cannot detain or apprehend a person's movements without having the intention to arrest. And have no powers to detain someone to question them or establish circumstances without having conducted an arrest.* Here are some comments by police themselves: "Either you're arresting, or detaining under a specific power. You cannot detain / handcuff a person 'just to investigate further'. You're either arresting detaining under specific legislation, or they're free to go and you can't cuff them. I don't know why some colleagues try to create magical ''common law'' arrest powers.where none exist." "In brief: in general terms, you cannot legally handcuff someone where you are not exercising some sort of power of detention. To handcuff someone implies that they are not free to leave - if no power exists to keep them from leaving, you cannot handcuff them because plainly that's false imprisonment." "I am in a role where I review incidents regularly and this is becoming more and more common practice. If someone feels there is a specific power I would be interested to hear this, because PACE is very specific on the only detention powers being arrest" "There is categorically no power to handcuff someone while police "figure it out". Good post, but from what I've seen AB is cuffed only when being formally detained under stop and search. They have the power to do that, as it says in some of these comments. The problem is, they don't HAVE to do it. There have been some stop and search where cuffs are not used.

I'm of the opinion ,cuffs should only go on for arrest , because cuffing is done to "arrest your progress", I've seen footage on here of itty bitty tiny female cops, cuffing a fellow because they weren't strong enough to detain him without cuffs,( their words) so somehow that becomes the problem of the suspect, it's all wrong of course, perhaps mixed sex cops should pair up, or perhaps lardy cops should drop the doughnuts,and do some strength training. We've even seen the classy U.S. cops cuffing and making suspects sit on the ground like dogs, for "officer safety" ,which translated means: "we can't be arsed to chase you if you decide to make a run for it". Funny how things are always geared in their favour isn't it!!??.😮
