Aw, she barely broke even! I'm in the red and yet I still do it anyways because it's about the art and having people enjoy my novels. I'd love to break even or make a profit, but honestly, what's more important to me are people reading and enjoying my art. I don't see much difference between a little library or book exchange vs. selling a paperback as a third party seller anywhere because someone's going to buy the book and if they like it, they'll probably go into the writer's back log. You cannot track that kinda thing, but you do see royalties! A win for me regardless.

17:04..."I bought this fan... on Amazon..."🤣🤣🤣 That's right, woman!! Show those receipts!! 👏👏👏 🥰 The idea that we the consumer, are making bank on used items, such as books, is ridiculous! Books are purchased just like, glassware, artwork, furniture, and yes, a secondhand fan... doesn't that author not get that someone might purchase that book secondhand, love it, talk it up, influence others to read it, and yes purchase it new, or maybe the secondhand buyer decides it's a new favorite author and they want the back list of work, leading to them insta-buying every new release... hello... 0% income from a secondhand sale becomes 100% income from new fan... duhhhhhhhhh...🤦♀️instead, they've quite possibly alienated future readers, for not thinking out of the box they chose to stand on....🤔

@@amy_harboredinpages 😂 I couldn’t believe that the Zodiac Academy book had that, I just recently went to Barnes & Noble and found those books, the first book definitely has that warning in the front of the book, but I didn’t see it for the other books, so I’m thinking that either the authors fans or the publisher said you can’t tell people that they can’t resell your books. Once the ownership of someone’s book goes into the hands of a new person, the author no longer owns that product anymore. Heck if I wanted to I can rip the book up and throw it in the trash, I can use the book as kindling for a fire, you can turn the book into art. The only thing we CANNOT do is plagiarize the author’s writing.

Artists (not just authors) forget that when you put your art into the world, it's now a product as well as your art. So, the person reselling it is reselling a used product... If that hurts you, maybe rethink the whole publishing idea 😂 Soooo many items are third party sold off, and 99% of the time, that buyer that's selling their stuff is at a loss too. A paperback is definitely not $2 because they bought it for like, $12.99 or higher. I wouldn't resell for $2 or even $7 but some people need those extra dollar bills (but you have to also think about your hourly rate and it hopefully ain't $2 an hour for your time and energy).

@@NicolesBookishNook Exactly, I will resell a book for cheaper than the original price, because it’s a used book.

Sometimes these takes are so out of left field. That it leaving me wondering if they are trying to rage bait. B/c if this is their real feelings how are they smart enough to write a full book?

@@theforgetfulscholar 🤣 I honestly think at this point it is rage bait or engagement farming. It’s such an elitist take. Most of my books are books I’ve bought used by re-sellers. I have an account now on Pango Books, because I wanted to make some money back from the books I don’t want anymore. I don’t make the same amount back that I bought them for, I get less.
