[cont.] While some of the psychedelic and surf aspects of the group’s sounds have tapered off in this particular release, it certainly made room for a more impactful sense of urgency that can only be achieved with punk-like song structures. Adorned with palpitating rhythms and song movements that are just as sporadic, bAd bAd’s self-titled easily ensnares your attention for the entire duration of their exploratory jammers. Aside from the discernable layers of distortion and metallic wails from the off-kilter instrumentation, the songs themselves are delightfully dynamic and experimental; “Dead Ends”, the LP’s opening track, is a shining example of this. While choosing to open with a chipper dual-guitar riff that continuously plays off of its itself, it doesn’t take long for the song to derail from the pre-established sense of lightness in order to descend into an intimidating slew of squealing guitars and demented vocal harmonies, interchanging between the two motions before suddenly shifting towards a low-tempo psych-like melody at the latter half of the song. Then, as if nothing had even happened, the song returns to its preceding intensity, until it suddenly returns to the lackadaisical musicianship and equally-listless vocals as the song finally comes to a breathless close. The fact that bAd bAd can easily play off such sudden changes in cadence is nothing short of impressive, and consequently, makes for an incredibly exciting listen once you get a taste of how infectious it can be. All songs share a similar sense of sporadicity, such as the deranged, noodling chorus segments of “Waste” or the catastrophic close to “Conundrum”. For a band who self-prescribes themselves with psych-like qualities, the songs never feel as if it comes to a sluggish lull comprised by pedal-toying or aimless solos, or as if it’s bogged down by far too many musical concepts. It’s all highly concentrated and deliberate, and totally thrilling as a result. This entire LP is fantastic, and I highly recommend that you consider picking up a copy of the LP in order to hear the multitude of memorable rhythms that bAd bAd is waiting to numb your senses with.

oh i seem to get it, there IS funny business, a whole allusion to the whole holy trinity, there doesn't seem to be nine tracks, there seem to be three, but three times three is nine, I think? you just made a holy joke there, Jimmy.

i cant be fucked working it out. you play the git. so root note it.humm the root note. work out if its in major or minor 3rds. then try different inversions of the same chord. even if they use enharmonic chords. only the fith will be diminished or augmented. some times people dont use the aug5th or dim5th. they just double the thirds and root. but still. even if its aug.maj3rd. dim,min3rd. unless they use 9th chords with no 3rds. humm weather its minor or maj. it ALWAYS works. u can crack any song like that Cecile
