I’m a Tito fan and I’m not ashamed to admit I liked 2005. But he should have fought Dana. It was just a sparring session. If this was on pay per view. He should talked about being paid after this simple sparring session. Tito wanted to fight Dana and it was in his contract. If tito really hated Dana…he would have fought him for free. Props for Dana for loosing 26 pounds to fight someone he hates. I still hate my basketball coaches from high school and I would fight them for free.

Dana probably had 10 times more boxing experience at this time. At a much higher level, in a very traditional gym and boxing scene. Tito has never, at any point been at that level. He was a wrestler. His boxing has never been good. Absolutely none of what made Tito successful would translate to a boxing ring. And it certainly doesn't hold more weight than someone with decades more in terms of ring time, sparring, pad and bag work. Dana used to beat up Tito in sparring back when he managed him. On record. Tito just thought his boxing improved more than it did. But there's levels to boxing. This was a massive mismatch and Tito had no chance. Which is why he pulled out.

No, he would've gotten smoked with utter ease There's absolutely nothing Tito could've done, not even if he was 3 times as good as he was. There's levels to it. Dana boxed for decades, been in legit gyms, came up through the ranks, Even Tito said after the fight didn't happen, that "Dana was almost a pro boxer" Tito is someone who knows him very well. He knew his background. That's why he pulled out. Tito overestimated how much he improved in his boxing over the years, and Dana was simply multiple levels ahead of him in skill, experience, boxing iq, everything. People don't understand how little mma means in a boxing ring. Tito would get his ass kicked by 15 year Olds in a decent boxing gym, without much effort.

@cpilfold4202 ай бұрын
@whattheshrek9046 respectfully, that just comes down to not understanding boxing. A UFC title means absolutely nothing in a boxing ring. People think it does and I understand, but it's apples and oranges. When you've done some boxing, then you understand that there's just levels to it. Very little of what Tito was successful at translates to boxing. Dana has actually boxed for decades. He dedicated a good part of his life to boxing. How many more hours does he have sparring, hitting pads, hitting the bag, getting the correct training in a traditional way. You'd think Tito being a champion means he's infinitely more experienced But the opposite is true. Dana probably had 10 times more boxing experience than Tito at this time, at a much higher level. It would've been an absolute walk-through Tito more or less admitted it When he pulled out. He said Dana was almost a pro boxer, which says that he knew it was a mismatch and he overestimated his own ability Dana used to put a beating on Tito when they sparred, back when he was managing him. On record. Tito just thinks his boxing improved more than it actually did.
@whattheshrek90462 ай бұрын
@@cpilfold420 yeah Tyson fury said the same before he fought ngannou and only just won a decision. An Jesus Chavez jr about 40 + Anderson silva. @cpilfold4202 ай бұрын
@whattheshrek9046 This came from Titos' own mouth, actually. At one point, they were like brothers. Very good friends. So, Tito knows that Dana, at one point, legitimately wanted to be a fighter and just decided against it. But he dedicated decades of his life to the sport. I think he told the story once and basically said that he decided to go a different road when he noticed older guys who could barely speak anymore. Massive CTE, punchy from taking shots for so long. And at that point, he dipped out. But, Dana had some skill. You could see in this video just from him sparring that he's like a rusty amateur level boxer. And it takes a lot to get to that level. Ngannou actually wanted to be a boxer before he was an MMA fighter. So, not the greatest example. Anderson is also one of the best strikers in mma history. Tito was a wrestler. So, very big difference. If this were an actual good striker in MMA that Dana would be sparring, then maybe I'd be more 50/50 But, Tito could never box. The experience gulf between the two was insane.
