Same here. He performed at a local mall, and I was about 12 years old and knew he was listed in my Guiness World Record book. You can read all you want but watching him shoot just blows your mind. You can watch 2 balloons pop and only hear one shot. Human vision is only about 30-60 frames per second, and he'd shoot between frames making his hands a blurr. A real human "Flash".
@Whatsitallabaaat
@Whatsitallabaaat 4 жыл бұрын
Just saw another video where he shot two targets and I honestly didn't see his hand move. They shown it on slow motion and he draws, aims, and hits the hammer twice. It's apparently still the quickest recorded. The sad part is he was quicker when he was younger but they didn't have the sophisticated tools to measure his speed. At his peak he was faster than this. Absolutely remarkable.
@user-kh2dg7it2nn
@user-kh2dg7it2nn 2 жыл бұрын
When they measured his speed they found his entire action of shooting two shots was slightly faster than the average human reaction time, faster than a blink. So this guy would have already shot two people before they even realized what would have hit them. If you notice when they tested him with the scientific instrumentation when they went to view it on the screen they didn't play it on slow motion to see it , they had to actually go frame by frame just to see it.

People are doubting the legitimacy of his records...ok, so maybe the .016 measurement wasn't as precise as claimed, but other people I see competing for the claim are _visibly_ slower, as in my unaided eye can see a clear difference in speed. And people are fussing about whether it's 0.016 or 0.02, or whatever the complaint is? The doubters aren't even in the same order of magnitude of speed.

I have heard several modern gunslingers say Munden wasn't as fast as he thought he was. But he could draw and shoot any of these Whinners twice and holster his gun before they could get their gun out of the holster! None of them would come even close to beating him in a contest. And they all knew it. Jealousy consumes a lot of people and these guys just couldn't believe how fast he was so they complained his records weren't real! But like I said before. He was much faster than any human ever born! I actually got to see him in an exhibition in Arizona back in the middle 1990s. Unbelievable!

We were all standing maybe 10 feet from him and he squared off on a target. Nothing happened. Bob clucked his tongue and said, "How about that. A dud." He had drawn and fired and I never saw him move! He reset and did it again and still never saw him move. Insane speed. The show stopper was the double shot. And , he never missed. The targets weren't close either (like modern quick draw stuff), and were 30 feet away. Indeed he was the fastest who ever lived!

Probably now long out of print, but Wyatt Earp's "Fine Art Of Gunplay" detailed how old-time gun throwers actually used their weapons, how much portrayed in "hollyweird" tv & movies was little more than 5 cent novel "fantasy." I do recall 1.) Any man who "fanned" a single action revolver in a fight was looking to get himself killed. 2.) It wasn't always the fastest man who won, sometimes he'd "rush" his draw, moving so fast he'd miss! 3.) Close range 1 on 1 lethal confrontations did occur, but were rare. 4.) In most cases, the old-time frontiersman had plenty of time to draw once he'd determined to do so. 5.) If you did have reputation for being good with a firearm, there was a very real danger of being shot in the back. 6.) Many violent actions that took place were not settled w/pistols, but w/ rifles or shotguns. (Wyatt & "Curly Bill" Brocious.) Curly Bill missed, Wyatt did not!

One recorded infamous gunfight went down in St. Louis between David Tutt & "Wild Bill" Hickok. There'd been "bad blood" between those 2 for some time! If I recall correctly, they both were more than half a block away when Tutt drew, fired, but missed! "Wild Bill" didn't miss! All can be said is Hickok must have been rock steady, cool under fire, with eyes like a hawk in his day! Wyatt Earp considered him 1 of the best men he'd ever seen in action.

I remember this guy. Absolutely mind blowing. He could draw his revolver, fire one shot with his trigger finger, the second with his thumb pulling the hammer back and letting go, then the last four with each subsequent finger, all in succession. He could do all that in like a half second or perhaps quicker. I can’t remember. I’m not sure but I think he could also shoot six different targets while doing that. It really looked fake but it wasn’t. I guess if you have the muscles for it and you practice it hundreds of thousands of times it’s possible. For him it was.
@derrickrr5516
@derrickrr5516 3 жыл бұрын
Ok so I looked it up. I was off by quite a bit but it’s still impressive. He fired five shots at five different balloons, hitting them all in 1.06 seconds. Time starts when buzzer goes off, with gun holstered and ends at last shot fired. It almost sounds full auto. The five shots happen in a matter of 0.8 to 0.9 seconds. So somewhere in the neighborhood of 333 to 375 rounds per minute. Heck, some Gatling guns only do 400 round per minute MAX.

Anyone debating this man's records is just a sore loser. I understand it hurts knowing that due to genetics there is no amount of practice that will ever let you best him, but just enjoy the amazing feats and accept it. There will always be someone better than you, it's really okay. Unless you have to duel said person ;)

I am pretty sure it was Bib Munden that I met in the early 90s, in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show. The exhibit was showing the latest high speed video cameras. Guests could use the cameras to capture his double balloon shot. I was there, two balloons, and all I heard was one report. He told me his wife could match him.
