I think an unhaul is always healthy; it makes space for better books and you get rid of the books that you don’t really like, and give them to others who will probably love it.

I could never just DECIDE to STOP reading a series. Once I start I feel obligated to finish. (I feel like I’ve said this before)
@lianathewolflover45163 жыл бұрын
I’m the opposite. If a book doesn’t grab be early on, I highly doubt I’ll finish reading it, I kid you not, I read hunger games and catching fire. I think I read the first 3 chapters of mocking jay. I quit.

I rarely finish a series anymore. I lose patience and want to move on to something different even if the first book is decent.

Omg same. I started the illuminae trilogy over the summer....and I couldn't start ANYTHING ELSE until I finished it. That and because I couldn't put it down.

I’ve decided that If I’m somewhat invested in the story, but it wasn’t the best read for me, I’ll give the second book a go and if that doesn’t make me feel more than the first book did, it’s a no-go on the rest of the series. I just read One of Us is Lying so I could watch the tv show and I gave it a two-stars and will not be picking up the sequel because it was forgetting things as I was reading (unless they turn that into a show as well 🙃 then I might pick it up).
@amanekabbaj3 жыл бұрын
@@lianathewolflover4516 same for me with Game of thrones. Took me an entire year to finish the first book and the others that I had asked for Christmas, still no no. Doesn’t help that I’d watched the entire show before I asked for the books!

I take my books to my local indie as well! They give really good store credit. I’ve gotten rid of probably half my books in the last year and a half, and have a box permanently set up for books to unhaul. The most recent addition is a book I bought when it came out that I hadn’t read yet. When I realized that was 7years ago I got rid of it as I could’ve made time to read it in the last 7years if I really wanted to

Landline is my favorite book of rainbow rowell, i just love how simple the love is and falling in love with simple things in life and choosing love over it. i really love it because it relates to me in so many ways possible. i love the book so bad. i understand that you dont like it, we have different tastes, some loves the book and some dont.

Sometimes it's hard to give away books but I feel good at the thought of someone else reading it as opposed to it sitting on my shelf serving as not much more than a decoration. I rarely re-read a book more than twice in a decade so in my case it's best to send books back back into the world unless they're absolute favorites.

I had to get rid of some books because they got moldy, since I lived by the beach ⛱️ (way too close to it) haha.. but since I had moved a bit farther from it and brought my favorites with me, I don't mind getting rid of the ones that got moldy. I learned that when you get rid of things you don't like or love that much, you open space for new things and experiences in the present moment, instead of living in the past.

I had bagan reading Wonder on holiday a few years ago, fell in love with it and I still have it to this day; I was lucky to find a copy of Auggie and Me from the same author and plannig to read it I think it depends if you can feel a connection to books that you are reading that makes them enjoyable, but that might just be me If anyone wants to try something like Wonder, I recommend The Perks of Being a Wallflower; it has an outcast trying to fit in plot like in Wonder, but it's a bit more dark with some of the themes and topics in it, so you might want to be careful with it

It's hard getting rid of books, I have unhauled without actually physically getting rid of the books even though I have no want to keep them. Mainly cause it was during Covid. Also cause I wanted to take them to my favorite used bookstore and try to find them a good home if that makes sense. Which could also lead to some money back or at least store credit. I'm trying to be better about buying books, I buy them on my Kindle to try and cut down on physical copies cause I don't have the space. I'm trying to keep only the ones that are important to me, that I love, or the ones that I want for my collection.
