In rugby you have to press the ball onto the ground to score a try, otherwise it does not count, unlike in American football where you simply have to be in the endzone. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that nicknack125 has been living for a while in a region where rugby is played and has gotten used to players having to touch the ball onto the ground. Now that they've come back to the US it is alarming to see a player drop the ball after a touchdown because in rugby that would mean that you wouldn't score the points.
