That’s Mick Ralphs, just months after leaving his longtime band Mott the Hoople. Ive always loved his melodic soloing. Kirke on those drums is awesome! And Rodgers vocals are LEGENDARY! The vocals comes so natural to him. The inflections and ad-libs are instinctual. He’s gifted more than talented I think. Paul Rodgers was BORN TO SING. And I’m so glad he does! I can’t imagine my life without his songs in it. Paul’s voice has accompanied me thru the majority of my 64 years. Bad Co’s “Straight Shooter” was the first album I ever owned - it was an 8-track. My girlfriend at the time (1975) asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I said I want two albums: “Straight Shooter” by Bad Company and “One Of These Nights” by The Eagles. She bought ‘em both for me. Those were the first two albums I ever owned. I quickly added Bad Co’s first album, “Bad Company”, to my growing collection, and bought every album they later released with Rodgers as their vocalist. I have ‘em all. And their last two studio albums produced before Paul left: “Desolation Angels” and “Rough Diamonds” have really grown on me as my appreciation for the songs included on those has only increased thru the years.

If this video truly is from Darrel K Royal Stadium in 1974, I was there. The all-day, outdoor event was billed as "ZZ Top's First Annual Beer and BBQ". There never was a Second Beer and BBQ concert. Peter Frampton was there as well. It was miserably hot that late September day...that much I'll always remember.

I was at DKR that day, too, and what I can't figure out is that Bad Company was the first band to play, and it was still very much daylight...but this video looks like it was night time when it was recorded.
