Now as a 19 year old and soon becoming a father to a kid, i can say that when i was a kid, my parents always cared about grades and never cared about my mental health, they always say stuff like "look at you, always getting c's and d's and look at your brother, he gets straight a's", everytime they say that, those words hits hard, and i can safely assume that when i become a father, i won't brag about my kid's grades, they are perfect for who they are, not the grades they get, now as a young adult, i can say that grades don't choose who you are, you choose who you are

As a teenager, in my experience when being a parent and saying "Let's see how you did in your grades" makes my heart, or any other teenager hearts pumping fast because we all know how our parents are, or how hard they are being on us. In that situation we can feel upset or distressed because how our parents react to our grades. Sometimes it can make us feel like a failure. But if parents just say *"It's ok you can do better the next time"* we can feel ease and with more confidence. All I am saying is grades can be improved, there nothing to be ashamed. Parents shouldn't make us feel like failures, but make us to do better the next time.

Yeah... My sister and I are kind of opposites with Grades cause I'm a Straight A student while my sister is all B's and C's. Whenever the report cards come in although I know I have all A's I can stop but be afraid that it won't be enough for them and they'll be hitting me with a belt as a punishment. My Aunts even asked my mom "How do you get your Kid (me) to be a straight A student? I try so hard to get (cousin name) to even get an 85% or more!" And my parents always say "Oh it's cause we give her so much love and attention!" And while yes it's true I do get lots of love and attention but... Do I feel my Parents love me? Of course! Do I feel my Parents give me attention? More then I deserve! Do I feel safe with them? ... ... ... No The only reason I ever get all A's is cause I'm scared of what they'll do to me. I can get a 89% in a class and you can find me doing everything in my power to make it a 90% Sorry for the rant btw ;-;
@Wolfiex213 жыл бұрын
@@JennbunVA nah it's ok. Do good with your grades for yourself. Not for anyone else. Do it for your future. Trust me those are the words that mom tells me. You're smart, don't be afraid for you will become a straight A student. (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
